I’ve just installed the 650 engine with one of the polish sports exhausts. The chrome tip is more or less touching the rear bodywork and certainly will bang against it with the movement if the engine. Any ideas would be gratefully welcomed please
Thank you for the reply. Ive now found a spacer that lowers the engine enough so hopefully that will do the trick when it arrives. The exhaust clamps are from Ricambio and only fit this particular exhaust apparently but they do the job wellIs it an issue with the exhaust design?
Apart from that, and others on Forum more familiar with your conversion will be able to advise better, but is it possible space the engine sprung mounting slightly so the engine sits lower giving more clearance?
Apart from that could the tail pipe be warmed up and bent down a little?
Not being rude but the clamp/mountings around the silencer don't look over engineered to me.
Tbh I don’t know, I didn’t realise there was a difference. I got it off marketplace.Did you buy an exhaust for the 594/650 engine. As they are specific. If you purchased a unit for the 499cc engine, then clearance is an issue.

I think that you will find that the 500R/126 exhaust WILL fit a 500 (110 engine) but a 500 exhaust will NOT fit a 126 engine. This is because on the thermostat housing of the 500 the outlet to the heater comes out of the front of the housing, whereas on the 126, the outlet is on the side of the thermostat housing. I am led to believe that this all ties in with Fiat wanting to get more rear-passenger length in the rear of the 126 (which they did, by about 4 inches. This is also the reason for the 126 starter being down at the side of the bell-housing, rather than at the top, as per the 110 engine. I have seen people marketing exhausts for 500/126----double check this prior to purchasing, as the rear 126 exhaust down-pipe, (by the bell-housing) needs more length and curve to get around the heater outlet on the thermostat housing.Isn't it the case that the 499 (standard) version won't fit in any case because it gets obstucted by the different heater outlet on the cowling?
Do you know what the difference is so I can see which exhaust I haveAlas there is.
I've been seen and done this, 499 zorst in my 594cc lump and boom, bodywork central . .
The exhaust fits perfectly in every other way apart from under the rear cross member. I have seen this before---the chromed part of the exhaust is hard up against the rear cross-member. There are 2 ways to get round the problem---the expensive way is to have the rear cross-member modified so as to give clearance around the exhaust-pipe ( a lot of the Italian u-tube films show that this isn't unusual in Italy, and other places I suspect). The cheap(er )way is to put a spacer (they can be bought in various thicknesses) in the rear mount on the engine side, so as to effectively lower the engine---this method is also quite common.Do you know what the difference is so I can see which exhaust I have

im going the spacer option from Ricambio. Hopefully it arrives before the weekend !I have seen this before---the chromed part of the exhaust is hard up against the rear cross-member. I’ve fitted the spacer but now the top of the engine mount interferes with the exhaust elbow. I would stay with original engine mount and either warm up and bend the exhaust to fit or get an exhaust system from a better supplier, personally I think the wrap around mounting look pretty flimsy, but I suppose there is not many suppliers in the market for what you need.![]()
