hi i have an 03 plate 5 door punto hope ive posted in correct forum.basically i have a blowing exhaust and need a new middle and back box but want something not expensive but sporty with a nice growl u know the sort.can anyone help or point me in the right direction, thanks

depends on your budget, saying nothing to expensive doesnt tell anyone what your limit on price range is...
but ill throw this suggestion at you, if you're after something subtle but gives the car a nice little growl when you hit the revs, opt in for a sportex exhaust, remember bigger the inches the better, heres one on ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-Punt...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item51adf8f34f

£98 + £5 p&p = £103 id say thats a bargain:)

i was looking at this, ive been told its a phase 3 punto whatever that is,its my first car i apologise if im been a bit thick, the one u posted is a bit much because i also need to get a middle part im looking at the cherry bomb backbox on e-bay 50 quid or so

Lol.i dont know what they sound like at the mo just looking for ideas and help.

2003 '03' means you have a mk2 punto
If you have a 2003 '53' you have a mk2b

Or double check your headlights is the give away

as for exahusts
if your a 16v, slap a middle pipe on instead of a middle box
Makes it a little more raspy, and i mean a little

But tbh, no point having a shouty shouty punto, its all poke without the smoke

Ziggy

Have to agree with ziggy. There's not much point in getting a cheap exhaust or back box for a punto because imo it will just sound chavy, and you'll still be driving a slow car. Save you're money or do something worthwhile like servicing your car. Pick up a haynes manual and start learning, its great to start you off.

if he wants to stick a different exhaust on it, then thats his choice, yes not everyones cuppa seeing a slow car that sounds loud, i cant judge cause i have a beefy exhaust and induction kit on mine:D
if everyone had the same taste as not doing any mods and stuck to standard then itd be boring:rolleyes: to the op go with ziggy on this on the middle pipe instead of middle box, and shop around for one in your price range:)

i need a middle bit anyway because that is blowing but im going to get a back-box aswell im just wanting something which isn't bog-standard,thanks guys for advice and input

lol i know just want something a bit diffrent, for example i know u dont like cherrybomb backboxes but if i got one would it go on to a normal middle or would i need a different one

personally only get something that isnt going to make your punto sound more powerful than it is,lets face it you only have 60-80 horses under the bonnet:D
which isnt all that wow:rolleyes: saying that ive seen some puntos about with stock exhausts and sound nice and raspy with a little grunt.:)

They may only have 60 horses but they're italian stalians apparently... ;)

A good idea might be to look for an induction kit, i had a cheap £10 air filter off of ebay and literally just stuck it on top of my throttle body (i know worst place to have it),
It gave a little sporty grunt under acceleration, and tbh sounded quite nice at higher revs. Might be nice instead of making it sound too chavy, it gives it a sporty feel but any power difference you notice is in your head (sorry for that downer). Maybe worth a shot.

If not where abouts are you from? Be happy to help fit an exhaust, the hardest part is the flexi joint flange bolts are usually seized

if bolts are seized, best way is get some pentrating oil on them the strong stuff, but for sake of your well being wear a mask! unless you fancy getting high off the stuff:D
but personally i never had problem with my punto taking stock exhaust off and putting new one on its literally takes an hour to do if that:)
with my exhaust its beefy but isnt chavy cause it only gives a little grunt the main noise is from the induction kit (ford focus induction kit).

lol i know just want something a bit diffrent, for example i know u dont like cherrybomb backboxes but if i got one would it go on to a normal middle or would i need a different one

we all want something different, hey if we all wanted the same thing our cars wouldnt be unique;)
yes my hate for cherry bomb exhausts will never change! but bare in mind this is a personal opinion and doesnt reflect anyone elses, heck go on youtube and have a listen of a chavy cherry bomb:rolleyes:
if the exhaust is just a backbox it should be a simple job of undoing middle part new backbox on and bolt back up and fire that old girl up, give it some beans and give yourself a pat on the back!:D just dont shear the bolts or it will be a oh no moment:)

Im in Southport mate..i need a middle also because that is blowing.there nothing special cherry bombs dont sound that great

most exhausts will fit onto it, as you have a clamp before backbox, you may have issues at the flange before exhaust manifold,as the other guy mentioned, again dont shear any bolts!!! they on the firing line of all crap from roads, so plenty of either wd40 or pentrating oil to break up any rust/grime from the threads, you can also get a hammer and tap on the bolts to shock the bolts in their threads to make it a bit more easy to undo.
when choosing an exhaust make sure you get a backbox one only:)

so steer clear of universal ones, ill have a look, they seem pretty expensive but now i have a bit more of an idea,i did look at this one and asked the seller if it would fit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380444157878?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 this is what he said, this will fit onto the rear section, how these are fitted is that your existing back box is cut off (so the pipe work of the rear section stays on the car) and these are then welded on clamped on.
sorry if im been a bit thick just dont want to balls it up

no i wouldnt recommend putting your balls up it! damn thatd be painful:D
i hand you a gold star for calling yourself thick(y)
but on a serious note if you dont fancy doing it yourself, for the sake of sanity take the new backbox to a garage and let them do it,last thing you want to do is fit it and drive to work one morning and exhaust falls off, ive seen that happen way too many times and completes my day!:)

Thanks i think :eek:so do u think the backbox i posted above will fit a normal middle.hope so because i just want it done now.its blowing badly
