Technical esp asr hill holder unavailable + check engine, lost power

Hi all Fiat fans.

Sorry, maybe will make a confusion regarding new thread, maybe you discussed about the issue in other threads yet... Pls do not hurt me...

My car is hurting me enough. Croma II 1,9MJTD 110kW 2007... Last Saturday I was on small trip with family... It occured dramatic power loss, check engine was occured and immediately occured esp and asr and hill holder error message (not available, check handbook)...

What I found on net, there should be several reasons:
1. alternator
2. brake switcher
3. old baterry
4. oxidated contacts in vehicle electricity

Maybe some of you had similar sympthomas, how did you solved? I know, that withou multiecuscan it is hard to say, but maybe some of your ideas can really help me.

P.S: after engine starting, no error messaged is occured(5seconds), engine is running well. After 5seconds simultanuously all errors are occuring (lights and messages) - seems like 3cylinders just running...

How old is the battery?
What's the voltage in the battery with the engine running and with the engine stopped?

Today it will be measured by running and by not running engine. I ordered to actual mechanics to change brake switch.

But, is it possible, that dramatic power loss should be caused, lets say, by old battery? Strange...

Maybe the alternator...
The cars nowadays can show many "false" error's due to battery/alternator problems.

Before spend money in switch's and other parts, do a good test to the battery and the alternator.

Electronics... they don't like voltage fluctuations

Hope the problem is just a battery, it's cheaper and easy to solve.

I concour, sounds like voltage problems You need to check:
1/ Battery
2/ Alternator
3/ Battery connections
4/ Ground connection (strap) from engine to Chassis.

Seems like my problem was solved - switchers (brake, clutch) replaced and battery recharging.

Regarding battery - what is your recommendation? Currently using 90mA, not too strong?

Anyhow, thanks for your informations and recommendations regarding my issue. I´ll let you know about experiences

Hi,
I assume you mean a 90Ah battery. That is fine. Generally the bigger the better as long as it fits. With modern cars that have alternators the only real downside to fitting a bigger battery is cost and weight. These matter more to the car maker than the user buying a replacement.

Problem not solved. Maybe it is needed to change part in between the drive wheel and seat - driver...
I am going to bring car to authorized service.
Anyhow,switchers changed,battery ok(i tried another 4batteries),alternator measured and voltage ok.
I am glad to know,what the hell is goibg on. Hope,examiner will show them...

Hi,
I know you've said that you've checked and changed the battery but can you post the voltage information with the engine on and off without any load please?

Also, how old is the battery? If it's the original Fiat battery it's almost certainly dead or dying. Which doesn't mean that it's your only problem but may well be one of them. As others have said not difficult or expensive to change (but watch that you don't snag the gear change).

My guess (and that's all it is at this stage) is the alternator. Cromas eat them and electrical problems appear in very strange ways.

Check and clean all the battery connectors anyway whilst you're at it as it won't do any harm.

And can you post any error messages the garage finds with their computer please? Even if they solve the problem with your car it will no doubt help someone else in future.

Problem definitely solved in authorizated Fiat service - connector on 3rd cylinder oxidated, low voltage in it...

Error messages : no fuel in cylinder Nr. 3(error mesage code will post later)...

Voltage I do not know exactly, need to ask to mechanic, but running engine 14,4 and not running engine 12,8V (as far as remember)

Now will pick up car from service, will share with you (ttl costs in official authorized service 70EUR, ttl costs yesterday 100EUR)... If some unidentified problem will be occured again, authorized service 100% (best service in Slovakia, fortunately, just 23km far from my home) ...
