I have a 1.2 (petrol) Palio but I think the engine is similar to the Panda. Everytime I turn on the a/c and reach speed then suddenly brake the engine stalls. This problem doesn't occur with the a/c off. I can easily restart the engine after it stalls but it is very annoying. Anyone have any ideas of what it might be? If I increase the idle speed by turning the screw will it correct this problem? And any ideas on how to do this? Help guys!!? Thanks!

air conditioning uses a lot of the current produced by the alternator, this means you get a weaker spark. when you are travelling at speed and then brake you are effectively creating a rich air/fuel mix combined with a reduced spark, this makes it difficult for the car to run and it is cutting out before the engine has a chance to adjust and recover. the best solution is usually a new battery and test the alternator, it may not have sufficient output to satisfy everything when the AC is on. try cleaning the connections on the alternator and battery, the alternator earth is prone to rusting which limits the efficiency and output of the alternator. if you have noticed difficulty starting when cold that may also point to rusty connections or old battery.

Could be that the a/c pump is not spinning freely and is "sticking" when in use and is slowing the engine down and thus stalling it. Take it out (be careful of the gases) check both pully wheels spin freely, then re-gas it and put it back in.
