Technical Engine Spluttering

Hi my petrol 1.2 53 plate punto splutters when the engine gets damp and theres like a sulphur smell like struck matches comes from somewhere,the top of the air filter box gets wet?

Sounds like a misfire. The sulphur smell will be the cat overheating because it's burning off neat fuel.

Start by replacing the plug leads. One at a time so you don't get the order wrong.

Air filter box getting wet is a puzzle. Damp?

The ring in the airbox is annoying because that does fill up with water alot.... espicially when it rains

So it airbpx gets wet so does the hts and plugs

On the coil pack housing is the cylinder connectionn order for the hts I think its 2314 have a look u will see it

But splutter id tackle hts and plugs
A full cat or petrol is bad news, once misfires cured get a dose of posh petrol in and give it a blast to
A get upto temperature
B get it cleared out


When I dropped a coil I could smell and see excessive out the exhaust as it cleared luckily I didnt kill my car

you need as suggested to change the sparking plugs but also the ht leads
if you dont and you carry on then your ecu will pop next
puntos dont like poor leads and plugs
