Technical Emulating the Passenger OCS sensor

Technical Emulating the Passenger OCS sensor

I honestly dont know, on most cars though if the airbag ecu detects a fault, then it will just disable the system. So no airbags.

I dont know, depends if its able to just disable certain things or if it just disables the airbag system.

You are right! But in Bulgaria from Fiat told me that it's around 200euro. :(

How do you think: will the airbag open when the OCS sensor doesn't work ?

Still cheaper than here. 350 Euros for the mat. I use the simulator from airbag24.de. Simulates an adult in the seat. As I sometimes use a babyseat in the front, this wrecks the mat, so I don't plan to change the mat until the car is to be sold or the babyseat eliminiates as an option. The airbag is ofcourse shut off with the key...

Not on a stilo, they will still deploy.

Guys, as a responsible forum we have to take the manufactures stance on this;

***THIS POST GOES AGAINST FIAT'S RECOMMENDED METHOD OF REPAIR AND THEREFORE IS NOT REPRESENTIVE OF THE FORUM***

Wether you agree with this or not is entirely up to yourself, its your choice, your car but I hope if you sell the car on that you pass on the information of what you have done to the SRS system to the purchaser.

(If you know someone in the trade get them to get the OCS for you,£83)

can someone tell me if the wires are conected like they should? i am talking about the 3 wires, red, white and brown..

But yes if just foil matrix is faulty... Is there any possibility to emulate just the matrix, not circuit?

Yes, havent tested it but others have and say it works.. emulates the seat being empty.. There are other solutions such as reprogramming the 68HC and other stuff, prob easier just to get a new mat or a full emulator.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

this is how my OCS is connected... pin's 5 and 11 are connected on the circuit board. also i don't know if the red, brown and white wires are connected like they should. from what i checked they are but... waiting from an answer from someone who knows better... my wires have brocken when i dismounted it....

try this method, it is working. pay attention to the foto and make the connections like the ones in the picture. i just emulated the matrix today. it's working like now...

i've user 5k6 and for the 40k resistances one of 39k and one of 1k..

It would be a better idea to emulate the seat occupied at all time than noone in the seat. In a crash, your passenger won't even notice the airbag saved itself for someone better?

Morty, the method posted above it's a safe method. In case of a crash the passenger airbag will deploy even if a passenger is not in that seat.. the ocs emulated actualy tell's to the airbag that there is a adult person seating on the passenger seat.
that's it!
it is not recomended to put a child seat from now on on that seat!

I understand. And misunderstood at first. I though the method would make it permanently shut off. It is no point of saving the airbag as a crash propably is a writeoff anyway - if the impact is so hard deploys the airbag.

I used an emulator earlier from http://www.airbag24.de which worked very well, but it was only a substitute until I got a replacement OCS. This one also emulated a "grown-up" person. So child seats (not for infants or toddlers) should at least be mounted in the same direction as the other seats.

Glad it worked for you anyway, good to know..

Ill be doing the same when mine eventually fails.

hi guys this emulator how exactly do i make it and it wire in.

do i remove the old mat first.leaving me with no board and just the 3 pin connector or do i cut the mat off so i have a board and no mat conected to it.or do i leave it.

are all of those resistors already on my ocs circuit board

do i just add the 2 red resistors to my existing board or is this a new board i have to make out of the diagram and connect it to my 3 pin connector for the ocs board.....

big problem...
it worked for a few days.
after some days i was going for a walk with my gf on the passenger side and the airbag lamp turned on. checked the wires, it staid on. after a few minits the airbag warning light dissapiered and after a few days it's again on the screen and it's not going anywere..
the problem is that i can't read the airbags with fiatecuscan. tried 2 cables...
damn!
i want to sell this car .... i'm sick of it!
