Im thinking of changing my micro ecu to a normal ecu out of a sporting, is it a case of cutting the wires near the ecu and matching up with the wires on the replacement ecu or is there more to it or a better way? I no ill need the keys and code box to match the ecu and the part around the ignition barrel.

All help and suggestions welcome. Thanks

Define "normal" ECU!

Remember, there are 3 different ECUs in the 1108 Seis.

The old SPI ECU
The evil barsteward from hell Micro ECU
The late MPI (2001 on?)

People have run the SPI ecu with MPI cars, but fitting to a later car may have big emissions implications.

The later MPI ECU is pretty much bullet proof, but the main connector is different and, AFAIK, no-one has done it. I'd pinch as much as you can from the donor car -- engine loom, kets, code box.

I've never seen a wiring diagram for the later car. Somewhere -- try a search on the P2P networks, torrent sites, etc. for "FIAT 600" and you might get lucky.

If you fit the newer type Ecu, get the engine loom to match or it will be a major job rewiring, and if not done correctly can create issues later.
I think the main car loom will just plug in but you would have to check pins like for like.
You would also need the complete Ecu mounting bracket.

I didn't realise there was 2 connectors on the newer mpi ecu, i thought it was just one big connector that has the 2 off the micro ecu into 1 if that makes sense. I was worried about having to take all the dash out to rewire the clocks. Sounds much more easier now. Thanks everyone for you help

I would look at both diagrams before you get your hopes up. The car loom A also has the D4 connector so check this also.
The factory workshop manual has lots of update sheets missing for the Mpi cars...:(

Oh :-( disappointed now lol i knew it was to easy. Ill check tomorrow if i get time. Thanks

I've just finished lots of spread sheets and redrawing wiring diagrams to fit an Omex Ecu, so I have been through most of the data sheets. Luckily, I have a Polish Haynes type that has both Ecu pin outs so I will take a look.

Brilliant, thanks very much. Please give me some good news or Evan if its as easy as a pin to pin swap with a bit of soldering. I can't imaging the wiring being any different from the micro ecu to the bigger ecu.

Last time I looked, it was just one big plug to the ECU.

Not on the Euro 3 ones. It's an A and B plug but non are compatible with the MF59 type Ecu's. I looked at de-pining the MF59 types, but the connectors are assembled with a jell to seal the cables in the back shell. (n)
I've spent many hours searching for connectors and crimps for the engine loom and made a spread sheet. Some are obsolete now but I did get some from the USA. The only one I can't get is the CAM sensor made by MTA in Italy.

I believe the 1st law of holes is when you are in a hole stop digging.

See Hansard or google

Well i believe there is a problem with my ecu reading the lambda sensors, can't find no breaks in wiring and they are both brand new sensors, I've Evan put one off my other car on it and its still not reading. Now, if im right woj is doing to turbo version of this newer mpi ecu, which means if i was to buy that ecu from him i would need to swap anyway, plus ill be removing that awful micro ecu.

please post fault codes before and after clear
