Hello,
I've a motorhome on a Ducato X230 2.8idtd ( from 2000).
I noticed that the reverse light is not working anymore since couple of weeks.
So :
- I checked the lamp bulb, I removed the headlight to check a de-welded contact on the reverse (looks ok) , the fuse ( as far as it's the same as the turning lights it's ok ).
- I checked the reverse contactor and I don't have 12V between the wire.

My question is : what's next ? Removing the dashboard and searching in the wires something is removed/cutted/ ...

Thanks in advance for your replies.

So no 12 volt supply at the reverse light switch to earth?
I would check all the fuses first.

You have checked across the switch, but have you confirmed that the 12V is reaching the switch, by testing to chassis or gearbox casing.
Tests may be perhaps better made with a 12V test lamp. If supply is reaching the switch, then try shorting acroos the switch. This will show whether the problem is bafore or after the switch.

Dual schematic and wiring diagram attached,

If I understood well, I test at the switch level between the black wire and the chassis, see if I've 12v.
I've a multimeter can I use it because I don't have a test lamp ?

I suggested using a test lamp because modern multimeters are very sensitive, and can give plausible but misleading readings through a relatively high resistance, possibly via a corroded connection.

About the "test lamp" ? It's a custom homemade craft or I can buy that somewhere ?
Thanks

Either, but choose a filament bulb, not an LED becase an LED will glow with only a small current flowing.

If making your own choose a low, power bulb, not more than 5W. In basic temporary form you could simply wrap the bared end of a length of wire around the bulb base, and cover with any suitable adhesive tape.

Be warned that filament bulbs can get hot, so only connect for the minimun necessary time.
