Ok, I know there's a billion threads on this,
But I'm wondering if the nice folks in the know have the best solution/fix/mod
And bringing up to date the topic.

My 2012 3.0 180 has just spent 2 weeks in and out of fiat garage with "water ingress" wiring faults to glow plugs and a turbo valve again due to water ingress.

Obvious on the 2011> build vans they haven't addressed this

I'm planning on a dry day soon to

1. Remove skuttle grill, clean and re-seal.

2. Fit foam strips down sides of bonnet.

3. Fit new drain hoses to skuttle,

4. Fit drain hose the air intake.

5, make a waterproof body glove to fit over the bloody van!! Lol

Question, are there any better mods that I can do?

I saw somewhere a Peugeot boxer that had a plastic tray and drain hose fitted under that central top bracket that sticks out into engine bay? Can I buy one and where?

What sealant (silicon/sikaflex etc) brand and type should I use for sealing skuttle to windscreen?

Any plastic full cover trays to fit the euro 5 3.0 180 available? I saw a citroen 2.2 one somewhere, will it fit my 3.0??

Cheers
Neil

citroen 2.2 one but will it fit the 3.0??

That P strip looks cool Rayc
Where do I obtain from? And did you use any old silicon sealant mate?

And, I guess it worked? :)

Seals Direct www.sealsplusdirect.co.uk item number P41 approx £4.50 per metre.

Black outdoor sealant B&Q. Only a thin smear smoothed of with a finger.

Yes it works but make sure the scuttle is tight against the bulkhead before you start. I have seen some where the scuttle fixing clips have broken and you can get your hand up between the scuttle and the bulkhead.

Hi RAYC, I used to have the Ducato 160 (2007) and suffered badly with water running down the windscreen and collecting around the injectors etc. However I hve now purchased a new (2014) Ducato Maxi 180. The seal to the windscreen seems to be nice and tight to the glass. To me the scuttle looks a little different. Do you know if fiat have now modified this and would you advise me to still fit the P seal as you described earlier. Regards

Mine is 2012 euro 5 and although the skuttle seal looked good, it still leaks, I did look at it when I first picked van up and looked same as my old 07 van, and with the issues I've had I'm defo going for the p seal, when I get it back working! Lol

We set this website up to share my experience of the motorhome we bought for our retirement. For forty years our dream was to own a new motorhome in our retirement.

In October 2013 we ordered a Burstner Brevio 645 from Camper UK at the N.I.C. caravan and motorhome show in Birmingham. It was delivered in April 2014. There were numerous snagging issues, the main one being a leaking back window.

In August, after four months of waiting for the repairs to be carried out, we decided to reject the motorhome. However, following negotiations with Camper UK, we accepted £5,000 in compensation on the understanding that all the snagging issues would be addressed. Unfortunately, the snagging issues were not all addressed. The back window leaked again and further snagging issues became apparent.

In November 2014, we discovered water pouring all over the engine and electrical components causing substantial damage. We found, via the internet, that this was a major design fault on motorhomes built on a Fiat Ducati chassis and has been for over several years. John Dabek, a Forensic Engineer who has carried out work for Watchdog in the past, examined the vehicle as Camper UK would not accept the damage this had caused. They only offered a modification to the bonnet seal. The report was very damning but we cannot show it as the matter is now in litigation.
We would not wish this nightmare on anyone. 80% of all motorhomes are built on a Fiat Ducati chassis. Water ingress is a major design fault and is causing thousands of pounds of damage e.g. ECU units, throttle control valves, turbos, various other electrical problems and blown engines. They should be made to reimburse all the unsuspecting customers the thousands of pounds they have cost them after the warranty has run out.

We want to warn others that are interested in buying one of these motorhomes on a Fiat Ducato chassis. Take a look through the pictures, videos and forensic engineers report. Bursnter, Fiat and Camper UK are too big to care that they are selling faulty goods. Offering people further poor repairs is just not good enough. We feel the pictures and videos speak volumes.

Please visit our website www.motorhomehell.com and leave a comment in our Forum to help stop the dealers and suppliers selling such misery.

Firefox says there is no such website, at least there is no DNS server aware of it and Google also has no information.
Has it been suppressed or is it not yet online?

One snag on even properly sealed X250 cabs is that while the main scuttle drain pipe is adequate, the outer sections (outboard of the bonnet hinges) are not and block up at the drop of a hat (or leaf!) The problem is aggravated by the drain tube entry being difficult to see.

They need to be checked regularly and cleared when necessary or else rain water will overflow into the engine compartment.

Check out my post from 5/8/14 "ducato water ingress, hopefully fixed"where you can see my mod's including new drainage pipes

Yes the water ingress is typical BUT just how much water do you think comes through the front grill when it is raining on the move? it's like a jet wash!! The battery referred to twice is not under the bonnet at all but under the cab floor.

I agree with techno the amount of water that goes through the grill is amazing. I personally have taken a different view on this subject of water ingress most of the covers and seals have fallen off/disintegrated/died a natural death (705000kms in 4.3 years)its been through tropical storms in the gulf down to snow in Tasmania and all points in between and everything still works. The only thing Ive done is to use copious amounts of silicone electrical grease at every convector and taken off the wiring cover on top of the engine and wrapped the loom in insulation tape who ever thought you could put uncovered wiring in an open chamber needs a quick introduction to reality.Cheers Adam

Hi guys I have a new shape ducato check this out for water ingress fiat say I'm the first to have this problem :bang::bang: (youtube: fiat ducato water leak Martin Pearson)

All the water will not be doing the ecu and the electrics any good and fiat say they don't have any complaints about water ingress they must be living on the moon
