Anyone tell me is the speedo cable or electric on a 2002 jtd 2.8 van cos it has not worked since a recent clutch. any help appreciated

Hi
Being a JTD I would think it is an electric version with a transducer on top of the Gearbox -the seal in the transducer leaks oil into the electrics. Not good for electrical components, it would also pay to inspect the Drive gear that drives the transducer - a long thin worm drive part, as these apparently have been known to wear as well.
BUT be careful as this gear can drop into the Diff/Gearbox !!!! oh - %##% & there is the possiblity that it could also come out when removing the transducer as well.
Cheers

Anyone help apparently my speedo sensor is the one with the nylon gear. the whole lot is missing can anyone say if the peugeot citroen is the same as I am told it is a main dealer part and better still has anyone the part number
Fiat ducato 2.8 jtd 2002
Thanks

Hi
Using our VIN which is a 2003 model -16"wheels, 2.8JTD.
Part Number of the Transducer is 1332811080
" " Driven gear is 9618172980 15 x 21
If you want to check to be 100% accurate to fit your vehicle, PM your VIN & I will check it.
Hope that helps (y)
Thanks freespirit the vin is as follows zfa23000006182185 eng no 3487424 just one other do you know if they are compatible with the boxer or citroen
Many thanks bill.

Hi
From your VIN yours is a 230 model with a 2.8JTD engine.
Sending unit (Transducer) - 9610853480 completely different looking one to the one fitted to ours No. 2 in the diagram.
Driven nylon gear - 9618172980 15x21 Number 1 in the diagram
same part No. as fits ours.
I would think that they are compatible with the boxer or citroen
as they come out of the same factory with different badges!
See attached pics for info, the parts on the right I think are for the cable speedo version.
Cheers hope that helps (y)

Help. I am reading that a few people have found the speedo sensor and worm gear cheap on ebay i just asked a fiat dealer and he quoted £160 as well as saying it is not a stock item. I am not tight fisted but as this van has cost me a few quid I was looking to have a mini break from spending loads more. free spirit was helpful with the part nos 1332811080 and 9618172980. so if anyone can help I would appreciate it I read that the boxer and relay were the same can anyone definitely confirm that
Many thanks bill oldasyoufeel

So the people who did the clutch job damaged it why not threaten them with small claims court.

From what I can see on eper your van still has a cable speedo the electronic unit would be for the ecu.
