Hi,

When pressing hard on accelerator usually over 3000 revs there is a whoosing sucking sound. Maybe a lose turbo pipe after recent cam belt change. I am in the middle of nowhere so have to try and fix this myself if it is something simple like a loose connection, BUT, I have no idea where to look and can also not get my 2000 Fiat Ducato 2.8 JTD off the ground!

Doers anyone have at least a picture of this year 2.8 where the turbo is and what could be loose causing this noise?

Many thanks!

It does sound like a pressure leak on turbo side, hopefully just a loose hose clamp, but split pipe or damage to intercooler can give similar sounds.
Not ideal but if vehicle driven partly onto a high kerb that will give you room to inspect if no other safe means of raising vehicle.
Note, entirely at your risk!!!
@Communicator may be able to guide you re a picture etc. However I believe he is a bit busy at present so may not be able to respond.

You wait until I have time to donate for my reply! Yes I was busy, Wednesday is our grocery shopping day, which we prefer not to undertake online.

If you open the bonnet on a 2.8jtd, you will be contronted by two 64mm diameter transverse rubber hoses connecting to the intercooler which is at the RHS of the radiator. The lower hose connects with the turbo, and the upper one with the inlet manifold..
Due to there bing a short section of metal pipe close to the intercooler and below the power steering reservoir, there are four hose clamps in this area. On my vehicle these four clamps were of a propietary design, which was not easily adjustable, or removeable. I tapped the "C" shaped component off, and replaced with stainless steel jubilee style clamps. I took care to align the new clamps so that they could be tightened with either a 7mm 1/4" drive socket on an extension, or a dedicated hose clamp driver. The two clamps at the LHS end of the hoses already had 7mm hexagon adjusting screws.

Check all connections for signs of leaks, and hoses for possible splits.

The turbo is located at the rear of the engine, and is not easily accessable without a means of raising the vehicle, but I have read of emergency repairs being made to the wastgate operating linkage.
