Hi all
I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to electrics and diagnosing so please bear with.
My abs light is on.
When I scan with MES it only finds 2 modules

When I check in the proxi alignmet it says this

I have replaced the main earth strap from engine to body
I have also found an earth by the abs module under the centre console which I have given a good clean and is a good connection.

If I scan for dtcs I get the following

I am stuck at this point as unsure where the other modules and earth connections are that I could check.
I know there's much more to canbus errors than earthing but it's where I have started with my limited knowledge.
Any suggestions where I could go next please.

As a starting point did you buy the vehicle with this issue or has it developed, as it can make a big difference in diagnosing or trying to;)

I have had the van for 18 months and it's been sat on the drive during this time.
Regularly start it up and only really noticed the light last week when it went for MOT, typical 🤣

How healthy is the battery? There are so many faults there that it’s possible during start up it dropped the voltage across the electrics and cause all those errors. I’d make sure the battery is well charged and healthy, get a drop test done or just replace it, clear all the faults and see if anything comes back. Especially as it’s a car that is sitting for long periods

I've never has any issues starting the van up but the battery went on an overnight charge anyway just in case but nothing has changed since that
It will clear some of the faults but they return as soon as the van is started up again

So when you bought it there were no issues at all, or was it a project or accident damaged etc.
I am going by the air bag node missing message and the PROXI configuration control - incorrect component installed messages makes me suspicious.
As though someone had tried to repair after an accident and maybe fitted odd parts that didn't match etc.?

The radio is non factory, its a standard Sony unit so I know that one
The van was a Cat N when I bought it was maybe you are onto something there.
How would I find out what modules/part numbers should be there?

That is starting to make sense now.
You could try going through the list and checking each individual item is connected and working properly, starting with the simple things? like testing the brake light switch, I am guessing it has three wires one to tell it is released , one live and one to operate brake lights, you may be able to do that with just a multimeter if switch unpluged.
Then check each air bag component is connected and has it's correct resistance value etc. this may mean every air bag, every seat belt pretensioner, every seat occupancy sensor, etc, etc. Check that the seat belt pretensioners have not been triggered as in an accident and so on.
There is always a reason why a vehicle is Cat N etc. They are deemed uneconomical to repair;(
If you are doing all these checks do them with your safety in mind as air bags have been known to discharge while being tested which in extreme circumstance with occupant not in correct position have killed! i.e a mechanic with his face near the steering wheel while testing:(
If you have ready access to the diagnostic tools as photo then as you work your way through it should be able to clear some of the error codes.
If nothing improves and no bad connections then a new or "virginised " BCM may be required.
Note my advise is only general in this area so others may be more specific.
It may be an idea to read up about Canbus nodes etc. and how they communicate with the ECU and BCM.
Did you buy the vehicle cheap as it was straight after the accident or had it been repaired and issued a new MOT?
Presumably if V5c is in your name it declares it as a Cat N?

It had been repaired and had an MOT although wasnyt a fresh MOT so unclear it it was issued before or after any accidnet/damage occured
I think it is on the V5C yes, I'd have to double check

The brake lights work absolutely fine although the handbrake light remains permanentely lit, is this the switch its maybe referring to?

The worrying errors to me are the CCan and BCAN line errors although I'm far from expert

I suspect it was the pre accident MOT. So probably the accident body work was repaired but not all the Air bag side.:(
Re the brake light, the pedal switch on modern vehicles has three wires as I mentioned earlier, in effect one to tell it's pressed and another to tell it's released, so it can be a faulty switch or even one that is not adjusted correctly or a wire or something is jammed around pedals so the switch is still recording as on. That side is fairly easy to check, the other things are more involved.
The hand brake light switch needs checking also and must work correctly, incidentally on some vehicles if the brake fluid level is low it can cause the handbrake light to stay on as a warning.

Hi

Here are some wiring extracts from eLearn

The brake light switch has two separate halves. Two connections "make" and operate the brake lights. The other two connections "break" and are fed to the ECU.
