Technical Ducato 2001 light switch problem

Went out in van this weekend (ducato 2.8jtd 2001) put side lights on everything ok move the light switch to main lights and nothing, all lights go out as if i had switched them off. Would that be the switch or is there a relay that controls the main lights any ideas?
