Technical Ducato 2.8JTD 2001 cutting out when idle or on lift off deceleration

Hi I have looked ta some other posts related to this subject but they don't quite match so I need to add another.
My Ducato type 230 2.8JTD 2001 is cutting out with the following characteristics:

- When you lift off the accelerator is cuts out, I have to wait 20 seconds then it starts again, first time every time.
- Happens more often when cold
- Also does it when sat idling but not as often.
- When it cuts out engine warning light is displayed.
- Garage has checked injectors and apparently all fine
- Error codes displayed before clearing were P1671 Fuel Pressure Regulator invalid signal, P0191 Diesel pressure control no signal.
- I happende to be logging at idle when it cut out, i had cleared the errors previously and the error logged was P0191 Diesel pressure control no signal.


Can anyone help, or advise what I should change first, I'm not a mechanic so it will be a garage job.

First this is have you or previous owner fitted a tuning box if so remove it.

Nope, bog standard.

I assume you're already checked the loom / connectors for the rail pressure sensor.

I would check / clean the regulator next the tip can accumulate gunk see below.

You need to clean meticulously around the pump / regulator before removing - you do not want any grit in your pump!

Change your fuel filter if not already done and don't reuse the diesel in the housing.
