Hi folks - looking for some wisdom! I have a 2008 Fiat 500, with the ‘check daytime running lights’ message displaying. Having replaced both DRL bulbs, fixed some bare wires, and lost most of the skin on my knuckles, the DLRs are illuminating with the headlights off. However, when I switch on sidelights, the second filament in both the DRL bulbs fails to illuminate. Headlight bulbs working fine.

So, is there a specific fuse or relay, separate to the headlight ones, which could be to blame? Broken wire somewhere (seems to be a theme with these cars)? Contacts on one of the bulb holders? Any thoughts gratefully received!

If you turn on the headlights from off with the key out, the rears work but not fronts, if yes then suspect broken feed wires, or worse fried bcm?

Did the side lights work before you fixed the drl?
Right, I fixed it … temporarily at least. The issue was incorrect wattage bulbs fitted in the rear light clusters.

I now have the entirely new problem that, when refitting the front DRL, the holder has broken and the bulb fallen inside the housing! Gahhhh.

Anyway, original issue fixed … thanks for the help (it was the question about what the rear lights were doing that sent me investigating!
