General Double Din Stereo

General Double Din Stereo

No idea...think I'm just gonna struggle on with the standard speaker setup since I have no way of getting a sub and amp! :(

Now if only I had waited and actually specced a car, I'd have had the upgraded stereo

second note : I tried replacing the front speakers but I gave up, they're riveted to the door!

For how to change the riveted-in standard speakers take a look at this guide which Capt. Chaos did for his Grande.

With his assistance I also replaced the front speakers in my Grande. Drilling the pop rivets out wasn't all that difficult at all.

I replaced the factory speakers with Infinity ones and pop riveted them in:

Shame the spec'd up stereo wasn't available here... i miss the bass something chronic... and im not in the mood to tamper with the system as the Blue&Me works flawlessly and makes life ALOT easier when out an about.

Does the SatNav unit that is in the Italian version of the bravo have pre-outs for subs?

Can you tell me, in details, how you removed the stock radio? I want to put a CarPC in, and I want to measure the space it has.

Thanks

buy removal keys

insert removal keys into the slots on the front of the radio

hear a click

pull stereo out with the removal keys

unplug cables

Job done.

Removing the cage however is a wee bit more complicated as you need to unscrew it from the rear of the cage which involves removing the central mount.

think ill be trying to get my hands on one of them!! looks sweet, price isnt too bad either really considering all the kit

Hi, may I ask for details on where you obtained the double din fascia ?

Are you sure that the EBay fascia has a high gloss finish like the one shown in the original posters photo ?

Its difficult to tell from the poor photos I've found searching EBay and the internet, but they look more of a cheap plastic matt finish.

You could try Fiat direct and see if they produce a simliar item? If they do it would be a perfect match in both colour and finish to the existing dash.

Unfortunately as your looking for an 'aftermarket' replica part buying it from anywhere other than Fiat direct is always going to result in slight differences. To be honest though in all the facia I have bought over the years for my cars I have not to date had a bad one that didn't look as if it had always been there.

Right O

Managed to track down a replacement surround which matches the dashboard perfectly. Had to strip down the dash somewhat to replace the existing fiat stereo cage.

Anywhoos here she is:-

Hi Capt Chaos,

May I know where can you purchase the fiat stereo cage?

namron:confused:

Hi Brav-oh,

I have not physically seen the 2-din facia. I initially thought that I will still need a stereo cage to house the 2-din facia. Is the 2-din facia big enough to accomodate the whole area under the main air-con vents?

If so, are the following list of items what we need in order to change the stock to aftermarket HU?

1. Bravo 2-din facia
2. Vehicle Interface - to connect to steering wheel for controls
3. Connects2 Patch Lead - dependant on the HU brand
4. Head Unit - depends on individual preference.

Any other items required?

For those using the steering wheel controls, is Kenwood or Pioneer HU more compaitable? How about Alpine HU?

Hope to hear from you guys soon...

Cheers
Namron

I've got a 2DIn satNav unit. I've a chinese unit and I'm satisfied.
I took the original HU and got a surrounding like the one on the post #1.
As to the GPS antenna I put it in the dash board in front of the Day/night sensor and I didn't have any problems with the wire because it fall easillybehund the dash board. Just dismantled some plastics next to the door so that the wire could pass throught the glove compartment into the HU hole.
The most difficult part was the reversing camera but I manage to send the wires next to the original cables through the chassi next to the doors into the boot.
As to the aerial, as it is an active unit (it needs 12Volts), I had to buy an inserter.
The original cabling and sockets remained untouched and I made the conversion (New unit cables / female original socket).
The unit can run any kind of navigation software. I've got a 4Gb SD card with IGo 8.3, TomTom, NDrive with the maps of Portugal, Spain and Gibraltar.
I can always make phone calls because it has got bluetooth; listen to my favourite iPod music selection, watch the telly or a movie; it also has got USB front connection and AUX (video and audio) input.
There is the possibility of still using the steering controls but it needs an adaptor.
If I can I'll put some photos of the THING:D.

PS: Although it's a Chinese thing it worths the money €275.

Here are some photos.
Not from the installation but the final result.
