Hello fellow Dobber owners,

Got a 2007, 1.9 JTD High Top.

I was drilling out the rear passenger mounting hump to make the back flat. I’ve accidentally drilled through and caught the fuel line coming out the fuel tank.

I’ve repaired the lines with some fuel line and no leaks are apparent. But now she won’t fire up!! I also changed the fuel filter, so I imagine I have air in the system. I’ve tried bleeding the system through the valve on the filter but still no luck.

Is it just a case of pumping more fuel through the valve?

Any more suggestions are very much appreciated!

Thanks guys!!

Check the in tank elec pump working
You may have cut a wire when drilling.
Pump should run for a few seconds when key first on, and when cranking on starter.

Engine will not start if in tank pump not working

Yeah pump is working. I’ve took the hose of the injector rail and I’m getting fuel to the injectors. She turns over just fine, just won’t fire up. Frustrating.

Priming the system is just done by turning the key to on for 5 seconds then off , repeat several times- the in tank pump takes care of the priming

Yeah, when I turn on the ignition I can hear it and fuel comes out, all the way up to the fuel rail. So I know it’s priming the system.

I’ve not touched anything else and she started up even with the open fuel line. That’s how I realised I caught a fuel line because fuel was pissing out🤣 Done the repair and now it doesn’t start

AS @jackwhoo says turning ignition on til fuel pump stops and repeating this several times\ normally chases the air out of the system , it may take longer if fuel filter changed as it has to fill that first before going through the pump and onto the common rail.
Note, do not try undoing injectors or high pressure fuel lines to "bleed" as this will not work with common rail systems!!!
Any fuel leak on high pressure side and ECU will not open the injectors.
