The digital display in the centre of the dash, where the digital speed, taco, tyre pressure, temperature etc info has stopped appearing when I start the car. The fault is intermittent.

Anyone got any suggestions?

The Fiat electrics are often hit and miss. A lot of its problems always seem to be connected with a flat or failing battery.I’ve had several issues similar to this on a 500X and my Tipo..various warnings coming on then going off never to reappear. I would deffo check battery connections and state of charge. Disconnect battery for a while to see if it rests.

I had a Jaguar which had a similar problem and solution regarding the battery. Visually it is OK and the car starts fine, but the car goes in for a service next week and I will ask the mechanic to do a battery test. (y)

The battery is fine, so no idea why the display fails to appear, though I have found if I turn the key one click and pause before turning it the whole way to start the car, it usually appears.

I am having the same problem right now. On Thursday I’m going to take my tipo to the service point to check what is going on.

I should have updated the thread. As mysteriously as the problem appeared, it disappeared. There was a link between it not appearing and a spell of very cold weather and I found if I turned the key and paused, the display would appear and then I would start the car.

I also had a brake warning light come on for 10 mins on a very cold morning -4 which went off and never came back. Italian electrics are very picky I think?

Well on Linea the predecessor to Tipo, the brake lights and all the rear lights are connected to the instrument display's background light. Sometimes it was completely dark for a little time. No issues since i opened the rear light clusters and cleaned all the contacts with electronic contact cleaner and replaced some burnt bulbs. So I believe that it was due to shortcircuit on the rear lights.

Today I had my tipo display checked for the referred problem and got informed that it may be a factory problem and ordered a new km display. I won’t pay anything because of the warranty. 😁
It seems that the km display is defected so the Fiat dealer had to order one brand new under warranty from Fiat Turin factory. 45 days for delivery 😬🤦🏻‍♂️

Hi interested to know how this went, I've been waiting two years for mine to arrive for same problem. Customer care have tried now saying as its now out of warranty.....tough. I've asked for a free service to make up for this and they're not keen! (2019 easy plus with 18k)
