HI,

I have a tiny bit of leakage at the seal of the axle shaft. When we looked under the car and pulled/pushed the axle shaft at the inner CV joint, we noticed that we could move it back and forth a bit. How much play is this allowed to have?

If so yes

There's always been play in and out on any car I taken the gearbox out, I have never measured it, I don't have any official tolerance, never measured it, I would guess somewhere between 1-2mm

As long as it's not wobbling up and down like this, or making a noise it should be fine

It looks very similar, just slightly less.
 
There never 100% solid

But it looks excessive to me, comparing the stationary part on the left it looks like approximately 0.5-1mm of vertical movement



@irc might have a better insight, I know they have repaired quite a few driveshafts
