Anyone had the dealer fit the fiat alarm when they got there 500? is it worth it? did they do a good job of fitting or would you recommend aftermarket alarm from a specialised company?

This comes up quite regularly, have a look through the search.

My thoughts are complete waste of money. Nobody bothers when their sounding other than to shut the damn thing up. Crims will simply bypass it anyway using remote hackers.

Apparently it gets you an extra remtoe key which is worth around £130... so I'd say good value for money... especially as it reduces your insurance.

If it gives the owner that extra bit of peace of mind then i say its worth it!

And it does reduce your insurance as it takes your thatcham rating to a cat 1.

If a crim really wants a car! be it any make or model then they will get it, regardless of what security is on it. but to be honest i doubt that many crims will target the 500, and the other crims and the stupid ones that will just damage your car, for that you will need a flame thrower or a mains supply! hehe

I got mine installed yesterday. its nothing to brag about, cant really adjust sensitivity on it or any otherparameter for that matter. Its better than nothing, and i got it for free, so i cant complain(y)

First I asked:), then i begged:worship:, then i threatened:devil:!!!!!!
All kiding aside it was part of the deal when i got the car.I fit makes you feel any better, I didnt get a fire extinguisher!

Well, I was told this by my dealer, Fiat customer services and Fiat head office.

So, if you're right... I'd like to think I have enough evidence on my side to get it anyway... But others on this forum have also stated you get a fob with the alarm.

It's just a fob, not a remote key that you're getting :)

Oh... yeah... I knew that... Sorry for the misunderstanding.

My view was just:

1 remote key = 1 manual key + 1 fob

So, when you get the alarm... you get:

1 remote key
1 manual key + 1 fob = 1 remote key

ie 2 remote keys.

a case of holly thread revival, however, was looking at the Thatcham 1 on the Fiat site yesterday, anyone an idea how much the stealer will charge for fitting one?

Holly thread? :p

As is always said, most people ignore alarms anyway ;) I know when our Subaru's alarm goes off when it's windy or when it hails no one looks at it!
