Hello,
So i just stupidly [don't ask how] managed to crash my 5 month old 1.2 bossa nova white 500 into my house wall.:bang:

It has some pretty deep gashes under the passenger side headlight, both headlights have popped out and are scratched. Assuming i need a new front bumper and headlights in order to have it back perfect how much is it likely to cost P+L included at a dealer?

Currently trying to work out if it's worth getting insurance involved!

Thanks

Would you want to go to a dealer? Surely you'd be better off going to a locally recommended body shop?

Oh, and I assume you will now change your name to "500dollydaydream".

Bumper about £170

Lamps £120 each

Paint/labour £300 ?

Just as a guesstimate!

could also need some metalwork behind the bumper and if it has chrome trim etc on the bumper that will need to be replaced as its near impossible to get them off the orig bumper

Sorry to hear about your incident.

If you get them from shop4parts (likely the cheapest for genuine FIAT parts), a bumper & 2 headlights for a lounge will set you back a shade under £450 including VAT. Pop & Sport about £20 cheaper. Add paint & labour from a decent independent bodyshop and I'm guessing you're looking £700+; I'd expect the FIAT main dealer price to be into 4 figures.

Pattern parts can be had for less £££ but on a 5 month old car I'm guessing you'll want the real thing.

Once again, condolences.

NB: Posted before I saw Chris's response; we seem to be saying much the same thing.

Also worth remembering that if you are a subscribed member of FiatForum you will be able to get a 10% discount on those parts. (Pretty sure about that but I know 306Maxi can confirm if this is correct)

Also chris@souls can also offer forum members a better deal than your local dealer however I think the shipping costs might prove too expensive as they are large/heavy items.

I personally would think that if the bumper can't be repaired then insurance will work out cheaper overall.

You could always take the Ryanair approach:

(Trying to make you smile not belittling your situation.)

Dude look on eBay there are lots of parts about, 60 for a front bumper etc, worst case you need it sprayed to colour match it, about 90 to paint a bumper , lights are pennies as well

I think it's 15% discount if you've donated £5 or more to the forum :)

Thanks guys!
I'm just trying to weigh up all my options. The last thing i want to do is get insurance involved. As i'm under that magical age of 24, the excess is ridiculous, as will next years quote be if i claim!

I suppose i'm lucky it's drivable...even if it is now a bit ugly!

Don't suppose you have a protected NCD?

Unfortunately not!

your probably better not claiming on your insurance then because if you claim they might grade your car although i think they only do that for write off's and your insurance next renewal will be crazy money

you'd be probably better just getting the parts and taking it to a reputable bodyshop as the dealers would rip you off, they charge about £75 a hour at my local fiat dealer so im guessing yours would be just as much of a rip off.
