hey all,

still wanting some sporting clocks for the punto, alloys me not having a rev counter

i know i need some with lower mileage than mine, and mine's only on 44k so it might be a bit tricky.

i downloaded the free version of that fiat tech software and couldn't get it to connect to the car.

anyone else have the software to do it that works?

Ta, Alex :)

There might be some dodgy folks out there who can "clock" your clocks, best of luck with them.

The Fiat odometer can only be reset upwards. If the car's internal odometer is lower than the new clocks you are stuck with the wrong mileage showing.

If your car has 44k on the clock
And you stick a dash in thats 80k - the cars value will just plumit.....

Get a Dash thats known to be under 44k or near 44k
Say a dash at 50k comes up - get close to 50k by driving (ie waiting a while) So that you dont loose too much milage

You cant just match the miles up tho - as the car wont talk to the Dash still
Hence Proxy alignment :)

Cheers all, yeah I know they can only go upwards, I was actually thinking if i got some with say 45600 miles, hit that mileage in the car and swapped the clocks over, would it even need re-doing?

I'll take a look at fes if it's a free version that can do it, trick part is finding some sporting clocks with less than 44k on lol

You cant get a matching Milage and stick it in - that'll still flash and the cars ECU and the Dash wont comunicate properly

If you get Full FES - it'll be cheaper as you'll also get a full Diagnostic Software for it tho as well :)

So no trips to fiat to get fault codes read :) = Cheaper repair Bills

To me its a win win :)

cheers you two!

i already have the torque app for my phone that reads and clears error codes.

i'll try fes again, the free version to see if it will connect to the car, dont fancy paying for it for it not to connect or not work with my obd lead or something

If you live local to Birmingham, ill do it for you for £10

I have the full version of FES.

You need to make sure the mileage on the new dials are lower than your current.

1-5K above wont really matter.

PM if you need help

thanks for the offer, i live in newcastle though :(

the clocks i've bought have under 10k on them :)

might end up buying the program as i get paid soon and it will probably pay for itself anyway in time, is there a guide anywhere on doing the proxy alignment or is it fairly easy?

Its very easy to do. Simply plug in the cable to the EOBD2 connector. Load up FES. Click Body - Proxy Align > Connect

Press execute - Read all the info on the side panel telling you what to do even though all you do is turn the key to off when it tells you to for at least 5 seconds then turn it back on.

The program will re-write all the bodys data and realign the mileage.

Then just disconnect.

If you contact me via email: [email protected] ill send you some screenshots and some other info which may be important

Cheers soulz!

I'll probably buy it to be honest, my mam has a new panda too so might chip in :D plus if I get another car it'll probably be another punto anyway, sad really I usually laugh at brand loyality people but I know my way around a punto and the 3 I've had have been good to me.

Plus £700 for a 42k mileage fsh car was nice :D

one more question, will I get the trip computer stuff too? Like range, mpg etc

Yeah it all functions correctly. Headlight adjustment, Trip, MPG, Clock all work fine.

And thats cool, its a very useful program imo can do all sorts of testing.
