Stu its nav + and this happens
The flasher comes to 20 % and sistem its turn of vith "bup" sound on the spekers.
Nothing else its hapeens, only this again and again and again

How did you burn the CD-R, and from what file?
I think it had to be with Nero, disk-at-once format.

I'm doing everything "by the book", dovnload file, burn with nero disc-at once format, turn key on, get out SIM card, pres eskape, put cd in, when se cd eror pres eskape, turn of connect, get out car key, turn on connect and flasher stop at 20%

Just upgraded from 8.1 to 9.8 following the instructions on page 1 of this thread and it worked first time
Initial impressions are that:
1 - some of the menus are different and the Sat Nav seems easier to programme
2 - Sat Nav picked up my location outside my house more accurately than before and the map draw seems more stable
Definitely a recommended upgrade (so far )

Having driven it now for a couple of days I am now sure that the Sat Nav is vastly improved.
On v8.1 I thought that it was a bit useless in terms of a navigation aid and that it would only really be of use if you got completely lost and needed to find out where you were. Positioning was vague, innacurate and 'laggy' - "at the roundabout take the second exit" 1/2 a mile after said roundabout!! Also the map used to flash on and off and screen/route updates took ages.
On v9.8 it is really accurate, directions are given before the junction and if you deviate from the route it recalculates really quickly. The map is now smooth and just scrolls along as I hurtle down the road.
Definitely worth the effort of upgrading (not that much effort was involved )

Thanks for all the info chaps,
I upgraded my Nav+ system easily today.
One thing confused me for a bit - after "flashing" the system with the key out of the ignition, you then must have the key in the "on" position to reset the language to English (with the setup disk in).

Thats because the main CAN line isnt activated until the ignition is on, at which point the CN+ will update its language settings.

I used some unknown CD-R from spindle without label.

He told me also that there are a lot of problems with ver.98, he prefers 8.5. or 6.something. He didn't know which problems, Maybe that is only his impression....

9.8 cleared out all the bugs from 8.5 although it still has certain issues.
I never use unbranded CD-Rs anyway - plus burn at a low speed for this type of thing, with data verification.

Is the unit COMPLETELY dead or will it switch on? When my SPV's EEPROM flash bu*gered up, I redid it on another PC and it worked ok . . . just a thought.

i had no problems, using a normal 20p cd. although i noticed that it didnt want to do anything with the key turned round to MAR, i turned it on and back to off (to get the cd player working) and it worked fine. upgrade took about a minute or so before the fiat screen came up with 9.8 in the corner.
chucked in the setup cd, clicked setup, language, scrolled down to english, selected, took another minute or so, got a confirmation message.
turned it off and on and hey presto it was fine, in english and version 9.8.

- My position compared with Google is wrong, it was perfect before. Satellite signal is full with 7 satellites:.
- Everything is very slow, specially booting.
- Phone is working very good.
- Voice commands are very irritating (Lady is frustrated, don't know why ...)
- MP3 playing seems to stack temporary, only for a while.
- If you are wrong with voice commands, you don't know where you are any more. I'm not experienced with that, I started changing version because of Italian voice commands.

iv got a connect nav + sat nav and phone, trouble is its in an alfa 147..
iv read on here you can upgrade the firmware for the cd player and sat nav,phone etc but alfa aint got a clue what im on about? got any expience of your upgrades working on alfa's?

my Stilo has CN not CN+, but i didn't knew that it's not the same, and tried to update it to 9.8. previos version was 7.1, after updating it turned to 6.9 and connect nav not working at all, one thing wich i can see is fiat logo and version, and then empty screen.... WHAT TO DO???? PLEASE HELP! i went to my dealer, he said that it'll cost much((
