Just planning my Euro roadtrip and wondering whether i should take a spare pack. Reason i ask is my last couple of cars were Skoda's and they are prone to their packs failing, are mk2 1.2 Panda's susceptible?

They are generally pretty robust, but as with alot of things, they can fail without warning.

If the spark plugs are decent and the coil packs are genuine then they should be good if your car isn't particularly high mileage.

not a High priority spare

I have had one fail

but it gave plenty of warning. Started to misfire in hot weather. Would work okay again if you let it cool down. Getting worse over time. Thats with 200K (miles) on the car as well.

Currently at 92k miles so not particularly high mileage... Thanks folks.

I had one go completely and all of a sudden. Car had only done about 2 miles from cold so letting it cool wasn't an option. Car had done 140k miles.

Put new coils , spark plugs, and wires before trip. Oil and filters also, inspect brakes and flexibe pipes

Coils with leads are only about £40 the set. Coils alone are £15 or less. I suspect they fail on age rather than miles.

How old is the cam belt? Failure wont damage a 1.2/60 but it will be expensive to get replaced.

Cam and aux belt both just changed with water pump and new coolant (obvs... ;0) )
Coils look original, but fuel cons is good and no issues starting as yet so electrics seem ok.

... ECP quoting much more so i should do more digging for those deals...
