as said with centos the parts savings are worth it,depending on your geographical location depends on whether meets are easy to get to.
i always meant to join but lack of paypal meant i never got around to it.
however i'll say one thing.
before i was about to join i posted a question relating to something cento based.
this was moved to the members only section which for a non member is pointless and it was a specific post to my car so pointless for others.
so to read the reply i would 'have' to pay.
but if your joining anyway its a moot point and as said membership can be easily recoupe in parts prices

My 2 pence worth.

I originally registered online only and did not have the intention of spending £20 to be a 'full member', then I saw that just by buying the service consumables (oil, filters, plugs etc for my two cars and a couple of other low cost bits) that if i had gone to Halfords I would have spent about £20 more, so i joined, have since bought loads more stuff from Fluffy.

I have found loads more useful Tech info that I have not found anywhere else.

There are several very well written 'how to guides'. (my current 'toilet' reading material is CaneyJ's 1242 swap (y) )

As for shows, I only went to Auto Italia this year, but reading the club magazine there are usually half a dozen exclusive meets a year (there was a Northants Mini Meet a few weeks ago but I couldn't get to that) and then they attend the arranged shows on top of that. All with food and drink layed on. Wish I had joined earlier in the year as the later part of the year was quieter.

So as a self confesed 'cynic' before joining, I now try and convince others that the £20 is not a lot and I have already saved that several times over.

And there is a lot of cross over, many people on FF are also on CC. And there are also other forums that I see the same names on.

This was something that put me off for a month or two. But then then I thought, well it only takes a minute to walk to where I keep my cheque book, another minute to write it out, another minute to put it in an envelope. I then put it in my works mailbox so it got posted for free. Not really much hassle is it? ;)

And as said, they now take Paypal.

Was that about Spax and 15" alloys? That is a technical question ;)

The reason why there is no publically available tech advice is because the forum is primarily a CC members' forum.

yes but how do you encourage a 'new' member by deleting there post(same as moving it to tech)?
so you want an answer but have to pay £20 to get it? not a way to encourage people IMHO

Ford ST owners forum is the same, a friend and I were looking on there to find some further information with regard to buying one, except Admin wouldn't let you join the forum unless you already owned the car and gave registration, engine details etc. Great way of encouraging people to buy one

Hi guys, remember me?! lol

I would first of all like to thank all those who, in this thread and others, support Clubcento and enjoy what they get out of the club.

For those who are considering membership I have a few points to make:
Membership only costs £10 for the remainder of the membership year (Expiry 31st Jan 07). Admitedly there is likely to be only 1 event during that time, but that would give you a taste of what we have to offer.
The forum is a priviledge of membership. Anyone looking for free advice on buying/selling can get such advice here. As mentioned above, many members of Clubcento are also active members on this forum too. It would be unfair of us to provide technical advice from our technical officer to non-members as it is currently, and will continue to be, a benefit of membership.

Next year we are going to be MSA Affiliated. A big bonus for anyone interested in track time.

As far as opinions go of "not value for money" I would suggest that without ever experiencing membership and actually getting involved with the club those opinions are not valid reason to not join yourself.

Any Club member who is not happy with the running or conduct of the club is perfectly entitled to bring this to one of the committee members or to one of the clubs 2 meetings during the membership year.

We take our owners club very seriously and will continue to provide better and better benefits for members. We have well over 100 members from all parts of the UK and you will find we all share the same passion for these cars and enjoy the support we all give to each other.

Membership is your choice, but I hope this gives you a clearer picture. If you have any questions regarding this subject, please contact myself or one of the other Club officers.

Thanks,
Sie

Sie, you forgot to mention the Cento Chat  . This is a magazine exclusive to CC members including features on past events, mechanical tips and guides and an 'owners rides' section (featuring my car among many in the last edition).

You would of thought the EDITOR of the mag would have given that a mention. :D

Lol, nice one.

To be honest, I only go to two (maybe three events) in a year and I think its worth the money. Fair enough I haven't "recouped" my £20 membership, but thats the sort of member I am because I haven't needed to take advantage of what is available (not needed mick yet touch wood). Saying that, everytime you spend money on something, do you try to get your costs back? How would that work in a cinema?

Plus reading Exup's posts in the funnies section everyday is worth the £20 in my opinion..... :slayer:

Hi all,

I'll be throwing in my 2d too.(old money you'll notice). As far as value for money goes, I think it's somewhat immaterial. £20, or £1.60 per month if you like, is, in the grand scheme of all things financial, pee-in-the-sea.
The vast majority of us probably drop more change into charity boxes in a month.

Cost asisde, I think that CC is run exceptionally well, having said that, I have no real point of reference, not being a member of anything else - so in actual fact they could I suppose be pretty sh*te and I'm gullable and easily influenced........................................................nah

I will add tho, that Centobitz/Frogbitz.com me Fluffy have been approached by a number of organisations to provide a similar service as to that enjoyed by CC members. Having introduced myself with a brief intro/advert on the pun2 forum, my post was simply deleted and what looked like an automated email sent to me inviting me to pay to advertise with a banner. -they contacted me remember-:bang:

So CC aren't the only group enforcing their policies (How very dare they :nutter:)

As a point of interest the service I provide is virtually a charity, I have no intention of paying anybody to advertise, and will only entertain an association with a bonafide club whereby I can promote it's paying membership (no, I'm not on commission:eek: ) so it's word of mouth or nowt.
