Hi all,
I’ve read a couple of posts in this forum regarding this issue but mine seems to go beyond any of the other posts solutions, (2013 Fiat 500 S) for the last couple weeks the warning light has been on and off on the dash, however it doesn’t identify what the warning is until I turn the headlights on then the notification pops up saying check running lights (triangle on before and after). The DRL’s are both working, and neither of them are dimly lit, turn on the headlights and both still working. Despite this I took the bulbs out and checked the holder, cleaned them both out (didn’t look like either were specifically corroded) and installed new bulbs of the same specification, popped them back in and both new bulbs are working just like before, however, the warning light still there. So like I said, I haven’t seen any of these posts go beyond that, maybe the holder is broken and needs to be renewed (but then would the DRL’s still work if the holder was broken as mine do) anyone who’s had the same issue and what the logical next step would be would be greatly appreciated thank you

Intermittent suggests its possibly the rear hatch wiring issue, as running lights are the side lights, for the fronts it would say check "day" running lights also check the book re the correct wattage of the rear side lights, there was a change in 2012 ish, money on rear hatch wiring though
That sounds plausible, I had a boot sensor warning fault that was intermittent as well but tended to only come on in the colder months and go away when it got a bit warmer, recently changed the boot latch and that appeared to fix it as it hasn’t popped up again since, however our first thought was the infamous hatch wiring with that, will definitely check the wattage first though, thanks

Maybe the number plate light?!
Haven’t actually looked at that I’ll have a look at it. Is the number plate light meant to come on when the headlights aren’t switched on (only DRL’s on) or when the headlights are switched on?

Are /were they the factory bulbs? 🤔

The system anticipates the current draw for certain operations

LOW consumption will flag an error, LED bulbs can do this, 😉
I changed the DRL’s about a year or 2 ago with Lucas 580 12V 21w/5w capless bulb and never had an issue with them, and the replacement ones are the exact same, it’s only just happened in the last couple months intermittently

Usually they come on when the headlights are switched on. With DRLs, on some models they come on when DRL is switched on, on others they don't. You gotta check what DRL type you have, I guess.
