My centre brake light is only half lighting up and I have a yellow triangle on the dash. I’m not getting a message to say like I do with the other bulbs but thinking this brake light may be the cause. Does anyone have any instructions of how to remove it? Also good places to get one as they seem pretty expensive online? Thanks

The high level brake light uses LEDs and the whole thing is a sealed unit, glued into place (with a really sticky foam tape) and includes the rear washer jet. There was a previous thread a while back all about that washer jet that showed how to remove it. I suspect you’ll only be able to get a replacement from Fiat, although worth trying the various online ‘pre owned parts’ specialists (the new name for breakers yards
:) )

Edit: here’s the earlier thread… but note the sequence of photos is in reverse order!

That’s great, thank you. I searched for centre brake light and nothing came up on the forum but didn’t think to search washer jet. I will have a go at replacing if I can find one for a decent price.

I'd look for a replacement on ebay. Or even on aliexpress.

The part number is 51910809 according to this diagram from the forum ePER:

I replaced the light with the new one. Old one came out pretty easily with the excellent instructions on this forum. Sadly it hasn’t resolved the yellow triangle and I am now stumped as to what it could be.

Glad you've resolved one of the problems.

Finding the other one could be problematic without reading the errors with MultiEcuScan or AlfaOBD.

You could also try a reset. Check in the owners' handbook if there isn't a special procedure for disconnecting a battery. Follow it as the airbag module is sensitive for voltage drops, so you could end up with a bigger and more expensive to fix problem. Before disconnecting the battery be sure to have the radio code if there is any. Disconnect the battery for like half an hour.

If the warning triangle will not disappear after the battery has been reconnected, it seems that the car has to be connected to MES or AlfaOBD.

This shall show you what's the cause of the warning triangle.

Generally the Panda doesn't 'reset' after a battery disconnect...

There are no radio codes for the OEM radio (linked to body computer to cross-check serial number vs chassis number instead)

Normally, if it is a failed bulb, or issue such as 'stop start not available' a message to that effect shows up on the dash on start up along with the yellow triangle. However, if the bluetooth system is trying to connect to a phone at the same time that can 'hide' the message while the name of the phone provider (eg Vodafone) appears instead. Try starting the car with the phone kept away.

The only lights the system checks are the side lights, DRLs, number plate, rear fog light and direction indicators. It doesn't actually check the brake lights, nor the headlights or reverse light.

The yellow triangle can also (according to the handbook) show faults without a message, including issues with the oil pressure switch (see other recent reports of this, where corrosion at its base prevents it functioning) or a faulty stop-start system.

Really though, MES is best help if you can't see anything odd yourself.

My money on number plate bulbs. Ive had the triangle lit with bulbs that work. Eamination showed them to be blackened but working. Replacement cured the triangle light. Watch the dash carefully when you switch on and you may get a message. Its actually easy to miss these messages that realte to the triangle warning light.

I may try swapping them for new ones and see if that works. I’m definitely not getting a message on start-up. Have seen it previously for blown bulbs before but nothing with this one. Also my independent fiat/alfa specialist has scanned it and it’s not showing any codes either. It’s a bit of a mystery

Check the rear fog light too, if you haven't already... but maybe first, read the posts about the oil pressure sensor earth connection too... (again, if not done already) -- see this particular post (the original question was also about a yellow triangle that wouldn't go away):

I can't find but know I've read more recent posts about the earth to that sensor being a metal tab that needs cleaning... someone will know where it was :)
