Hello All

'06 Idea Multijet 90

Looking at previous threads I find I'm in the "Indicators don't Flash" category when locking or unlocking. So there I was on Sat.morning in Service Deception at Fish Bros.Swindon, and asked the geezer there about booking a time with the great "Examiner" device to get mine set up to flash. He came out with all sorts of whitewash about how the car might be "set up for the wrong country"(?)-which would account for the "no flashing",and that the only way to see whether it could be done would be to "run a full diagnostic test...which would take about an hour...and would be about £83"(yes,eighty three),and I would have to bring it in on a weekday(not at all convenient for me)rather than a Sat.morning(very convenient for me)becos "the technician who I want to do it only works then"(What, doesn't anyone else there know how to work the thing?!)
Next I asked about permanently switching off the service indicator-but that was a no,as it's "built into the software".
Finally I said about adding an outside temperature gauge-there's a "space" in the display, and 2 spare wires in the door mirror socket behind the trim-was it just a matter of buying a mirror with the necessary "probe" and plugging it in?Again no,becos the Body Computer is "factory set...and you can't add anything else",and they can't alter anything on it using their equipment.

Ok then!

Can anyone give some definite answers?I really can't see I need a full test to set the indicators-I would imagine(but you can tell me otherwise) it's a matter of "Scroll thru to "Central Locking",select "Visible Indication of Function",click "OK",then "Exit".Total time 5 minutes(with a 3 minute break in between). There is nothing else wrong with the car,but it's just that it's difficult sometimes to know whether you've locked it or not with no indication(no pun intended). As has been said before,£20 or so for a few minutes' work-fine,I'm more than willing to pay for that, but £80+?That's just p*ss take!

I see that Sykes-Pikavant have a "Fiat Service Light Reset" thing advertised-anyone had any experince with one of these?

Any advice gratefully received!

Thanx

Michael

I'm surp[rised by that because Fish brothers (swindon) have good reputation, I would re-enquire abou tthe cost of visual locking confirmation as I only charge £20 and that includes scanning all modules for errors aswell.

To be honest, when the car was PDI'd this function should of been activated, hence why I always thing the lower cost is more sensible. Codes have to be obtained (which costs the dealer anyway) so take all your keys with you if you get it done.

As for service light, I would recommend against after market light reset 'boxes' as have seen to many stilo clusters ruined as a result leaving customer with a tidy £400 bill!

Thanks for that.I've always had good service from Fishes during the past 8 years and was rather taken aback by the "Well we can have it in but when it suits us" attitude.Perhaps I caught them at an off moment, altho at 9.15am I was the only "non-employee" in the showroom!Unfortunately I've got no more time off during the week this year, hence looking for a "Sat. morning and wait for it" appointment.I might see what any other dealers who aren't too far away say about costs for getting this done. For £83 I could take it back to TJ Vickers, have some grub on the way and have some change!

Porbably the first owner of the car wasn't aware that this could be done-the handbook says something like "where provided" and not "You can have this facility if you want".Ho Hum...

Don't think S-P will be getting my custom either...
