General Carburettor adjustment

General Carburettor adjustment

Hmmm.

There's not a lot to adjust/twiddle - float level's about it*, beyond fast idle and anti-flooding.

The latter probably aren't critical when warmed up.

jet sizes, etc, aught to be correct..

Re-reading the previous posts, you say the fault is still there after a change of carburettor for a FIAT exchange unit, and that it cleared up for a few days - then came back again.... so I'm not entirely convinced the carburettor is the problem:
What are the odds of a reputably sourced exchange unit having the same fault as the original???

I'm not sure I can resolve this one remotely.

* gasket surface to float 26.5 to 27.5mm according to Haynes.

I´m thinking a hammer might be the best fix[}:)]. I can get by with the temporary choke workaround:D. I´ll be rebuilding or swaping the engine soon so i´m not that worried about it as it still works with the choke on:).

I've got a carb question, I've got a webber 32 TLF 6/251 carburettor.
I just had my head gasket replaced and was told I dont have a vacuum advance unit (which explains why its a bit sluggish)
I'm I right in thinking it connects to the condenser? is so where abouts on the carburettor is the vacuum advance unit fitted on the diagram above? I've had one ordered from fiat so should have it on thursday with any luck

It connects under the carb, on the intake duct for precision.

<--Can my face look like this if I meet a Danish and/or a Swedish supporter!?

Sorry about deleting my previous reply[)]. The vaccum advance is located on the distribuitor:p.
btw: is yours a fire engine because mine barely runs when i remove it(the whole piece not the hose.)

I now have repaired the original problem it was the carb after all, it seems fiat didn´t have any in stock so they sent the original back and the dealer just said it was a replacement[}:)]. I just got a full carb overhaul for free:D, it now revs fine but won´t idl properly probably because of an exhaust leak between the manifold and exhaust(two broken bolts). Does anyone know how to repair this?:p

If you have any questions don´t be afraid, ask away. I´ll be glad to help.

Manifold from a scrapyard, or drill out and use nuts and bolts, or a decent tyre/exhaust factor will be used to replacing the studs - don't know what they charge though.. generally as much as possible :(

Only if you like the smell of scorched plastic.

I tried to fix a manifold crack once with the exhaust putty stuff. It was easy to slap on, but didn't last.

The studs are an expensive 20p each from the UK FIAT dealership. Part No: 13588621

Hopefully Portugal prices are similar.

Fix It Again Tony!
Would swap for X19, Montecarlo Spider or GT.i.e in average/poor condition! Scottish based would be nice.

The trouble was i didn´t want to remove the manifold to remove the broken bolts:p but since i have to do the headgasket i now have the chance to fix it good, i´m just going to drill a hole and use brass hardware nothing fancy:D.
