Car radio interference

I have an JVC cd player that is very old, i'd guess about 2004. When the engine is off i can get most radio stations (but often not that strong a signal) but as soon as I turn the engine on i get nothing. My dad says its a suppressor thats missing. I want to replace this old thing anyway but is this what i need? I have bog standard speakers.

oh and a funny thing is that the left+right are the wrong way around so if i turn down the left speakers it turns down the right ones

get a decent HU jvc, sony, pioneer etc dont get a ****ty ripspeed pop out one. Get some good speakers, alpine, vibe jbl etc but ive seen your on a limited budget so look for clearance ones in halfords. i got some ripspeed ones from work just for the time being and they are ok do the job for £12 decent price but thats all i would ever buy donning the RS name lol. Remember if you planning on fitting a sub make sure you get a HU with preout on the back.
