Another annoying little thing about the Panda........

Can you open the boot from the inside of the cabin? It's a pain to keep getting out to unlock it!

Ta!

Try holding down the boot unlock button on your key for a few seconds. That should do the trick.

AFAIK the only boot release is the one on the key fob, but the boot can be opened if you unlock the doors I think?

Chris

No, I have the Active model. There is no button my my key- it's not remote locking. And when I unlock the car doors the boot doesn't open- I have to get out and open it manually with the key.

If you'd bought a better spec like everybody advised you at the time you'd be sorted eh? If you want a decent spec level and performance don't buy the poverty model.

JON

harsh, that's colder than an eskimo hookers nipples.......:p

having said that, whatever happened to the idea of putting a little lever down by the front right of the drivers seat that would pop the hatch? it cant be only the uno that has it?

Brava/o had it, but then that didn't have an external boot release so it's swings and roundabouts. Personally I prefer the external release, it seems like less of a compromise, but I admit it wouldn't be beyond fiat to fit both.

That's a mechanical system. The Coupe has the same.
The Panda uses an electrical release, which would need a button. Buttons cost money, and the Panda is supposed to be a cheap car ;)
The Grande Punto has a button on the bash to release the (electrically released) boot hatch.

Interestingly my Fabia had a mechanical lever and my Mondeo had a button. Both worked on boots with electrical releases :D

LOL Sorry, but we all advised against buying this car and he went a did it anyhow and now keeps moaning on about it.

Fair comment, but I couldn't afford the higher spec' model.

I've just got my hands on the manual, so I should understand it now.:p

I've a 2005 1.2 Dynamic, the boot can be unlocked by Key or the remote, but you still have to open it by the handle on the outside.

I think the 100hp is different to this and if you hold the button on the keyfob for a few seconds (3 or 4) the boot pops open, although sadly it doesn't fully open the hatchback so I'm not really sure it's any more useful than having to use the handle!

Chris

Slightly off topic, but a warning if you open the boot using the button on the key fob. As ScoobyChris says, press the bottom button on the remote for more than a couple of seconds (on Eleganza, 4x4 or 100HP - Dynamic too?) and the boot release operates (the lights flash a couple of times too). BUT it does NOT unlock the car. If you drop the key in the boot and close it, then you are locked out... :-(

So, personally, having realised this and not found the remote release terribly helpful, I simply unlock the car and use the bootlid handle to open it.

I read that in my handbook, that's treated the same way as the City Steering, a feature gathering dust in the corner !!!!!

My City Steering switch is like a BMW indicator bulb - unused :D :ROFLMAO:

Chris,

The dynamic does work exactly the same - the boot pops slightly open with the key fob but needs manual intervention to lift the tailgate.
