Hi everyone :)

I've posted on here last year as I was looking to buy my first fiat 500, everyone was really helpful so thought i'd ask again..

I decided to wait a while and i'm now ready to sign on the dotted line. VERY excited. I've decided on a 1.2 lounge with duologic. When I was looking last year, I had my heart set on the cha cha blue but after speaking to some dealers i've learned that colour has now been dis-continued. Very disapointed as I thought it was lovely.

I've now decided on the rock n roll blue but I've read some negative things on here. People are saying that it won't keep it's re-sale value as well as some of the other colours?? And that it looks quite dull? I realllllly don't want a white one, nothing wrong with it but there's 4 in my street already and i like being a bit different :D None of the other colours really stand out for me, the only other potential would be the silver, or break beat grey as they call it. Is it worth spending the extra (think it's £200) for the silver?

Finally, deals on the car was fairly low on the ground last year so I thought I might get a better deal now.. seems like there's still not much to be had and everyone i've spoken to is still saying they're not meant to discount the car at all. Anyone had any good deals? After some tough negotiating, the best offer i've had is £300 off?!

Thank you all for your help, I'm buying the car this weekend so guess i'll have to decide pretty quickly! :worship:

On deals I do not know.

On colour, we really cannot tell you. Buy what you like. Have a good look round at the colours available from dealers' showrooms (more than one if possible unless they have all the colours on show). Bear in mind that the less popular the colour the harder it will be to sell, and the more it will impact on price. So if there is a colour you have never seen it is unlikley to be very slaeable, even if you perosnally love it. However i think most of the more "off the wall" colours have been discontinued now so you should be fine.

In conclusion, buy the car the way you want it and forget about selling it. It is a popular car and you should be fine and you may end up loving it and owning it forever.

Given that you are buying a 500 new - you will more than likely keep the car for 3 years plus - I would agree with RobinPJ on buying the colour that you want.
On your choice of 1.2 are there any advantages in owing a TA to avoid the congestion charge - the 'Twin Air' model is good value if you are OK about the black alloy wheels.
On the colours I would be the same as yourself about the BNW but it is a great 'free' colour and the white really suits the 500 shape.
Since you mention silvers and the Breakbeat Grey - I had a silver car for about a year and I would never dream of buying that colour again because it isn't a colour but I would consider Electroclash grey which for me as a man kinda stood out.
Another option is to combine the silver with the white and you get Funk white but it will cost you £730. You will be the envy of those on the road with their BNW colours - now you will definitely stand out but in a very subtle way. It's a lot of money for a colour compared to a Pastel £280 and Metallic £440 but IMHO it is worth every penny.

If you go for the Rock & Roll it is a very classic colour and if it does it for you then why not go for it. The other blues that they had in particular New Orleans Blue - although looking great initially doesn't grow on you. The FW for me still graps my attention and if I was getting another 500 I would really want in that colour again if I could get it.

Just to add our opinion/experience!
When my wife and I went to the dealers on Monday to order her car (Ragamuffin Red 500!!) after 3 (yes three) hours of talking/haggling we got a discount of.......

Wait for it

£100!!
Admitedly that is for a built to order, wait upto 12weeks one. They did say if buying one straight off the showroom floor then a bit more discount might be forth coming, but not much!

Thanks everyone...

I will be keeping the car for at least 3 years but since hubby is paying half, he's leaning towards the "free" white colour as he reckons it would be easier to sell on as you were saying Robin. I think it would be a nightmare to clean!

Loveshandbags- I don't think there will be any real benefit in the TA. It's more expensive and we won't be driving into town. I live in Wimbledon and will be mainly around there and only on weekends.

The curleyOne- WOW, 3 hours for £100?! I guess what i've been offered is good then :)

I'm still in complete limbo over the colour. I guess the BN white would be the sensible choice but I'm just not sure. WHY they discontinued the cha cha is beyond me, i LOVED that colour. :p

I agree with RobinPJ - buy the colour you like!.

If I were replacing our CCCAB car now I'd go for Tech House Grey or the new Midnight Indigo Blue (which I think is only an option on the TA).

When I was looking to buy a budget scrappage 1.2 Pop on 2 separate occasions I was opting for BNW. It is hard to beat this free colour and it's a cream as opposed to a white. I nearly bought a Red one that was sitting in the showroom with white ambiance that 'jumped out at me' - but it went that day. My wife is a Red person and likes that colour - it's also a little different to the BNW. The 500 is a small car 'on the outside' and it is very easy to give it a quick clean - that can be the hubby's job since you can convince him that he has saved himself £730.;)

You're right on that one:). My Panda is BNW and it's really easy to look after - I keep it well waxed & it only takes 30mins once a week to wash it. BNW won't show swirls & scratches in the same way most other colours do & it's not as prone to water spotting if you don't dry it off thoroughly either. Another bonus is that it helps keep the car cool in summer - plus you won't have to worry about the colour fading.

Certainly the sensible choice - although I still like my red 500 (but I'm more careful when washing it & keep it garaged whenever possible).

Hi Louboutins!

It sounds like you are someone who has been considering their Fiat 500 purchase for aaages! I know I have been lusting after them for 3 years now. Had I ordered last year I too would have gone for the Cha Cha Azure colour, previous to that it would have been hands down the ye ye green (and still would have been if it was available) but what spurred me into action to order my car this year was the Volare Blue colour. I have now seen most of the colours "in the flesh" as it were, the RnR blue is nice but very dark (imho) - I did a test drive in one and it just wasn't for me in the end, up until I saw one I had been considering that as a colour. I just felt the colour didn't do the cheekiness of the car any justice. The BNW colour is great, but like you said they are 10 a penny so it's nice to get something a little different to the norm :)

At the end of the day though, colour is subjective. Go with what your heart tells you (is that a girly thing to say?) as it'll be you who is driving around in the car for the next X years :D

Me and a couple of other forum users managed to get around £500 discounts on our June orders, I can PM you tonight with details if you want, but it would involve a bit of a trip "up north" for you ;) that's if they are even willing to discount at the mo. If you use the fiat finance you can get an extra £250 dealer contribution. Another tip that I found is that if you don't PX your current car then you will be more likely to get a discount from a dealer, but of course that was my experience at the dealer I am using.

I certainly agree that my BNW TA is easier to keep clean than the black or dark colour cars I've owned. I went for red seats with white ambience, and after nearly 6 months still love it. It's a very subjective, personal thing though - take your time choosing and get the one you like most. By the way, the only extra cost option I went for were the bigger multispoke alloys - at £175 I rate these a bargain for the improved appearance.

I bought a 500 1.2 Dualogic Lounge for my wife at the end of June. She wanted a black one but was put off that idea by the thought of having to clean it each week. In the end she went for the Electroclash grey with red leather interior.

As for discounts, we managed to get about £600 discount on a £13500 car with full tank of fuel and mats thrown in. We had no part exchange and are paying cash. It's possible that as we ordered at the end of the quarter the dealers were prepared to discount more. We also played two dealers off against each other.

I can provide you the name of my dealer if you want by PM. They aren't so far from you and have been excellent providing honest advice on options and being friendly in a genuine way. When our car was going through the build process every week I had a phone call from my excited dealer giving me the latest progress on our car...

If you do get a good deal then it's best not to advertise the dealer's name on here as Fiat are trying to stop discounting on 500s.

Morning all!

Flojo, I have been thinking about it for ages, you're right. I had my heart set on the cha cha blue but since I can't get that anymore, the r&r blue was my next-best-thing choice. Because i don't LOVE it the way i did with the cha cha blue, i'm thinking it might be best to just go for the white and be done with it.

Because this is going to be my first car, i don't have a part exchange. Also- i'm rubbish at negotiating so any help will be much appreciated. ffxmy if you could pm me, that would be amazing. Jo, I don't mind a trip up "norf" either, that's where the hubby is originally from so he speaks the lingo :yum:

I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone that's replied on here- you are all so lovely! (y)

Hello

I had a Cha Cha Azure 500 for three years - loved the colour (fell in love with it when I first saw it). For my new 1.2 Lounge Dualogic I went with the Volare Blue, which is beautiful and comes with the same ivory 'ambience' as my old car. However, I saw one in the flat dark grey (not metallic; think it's Tech House Grey) at the showroom and it was stunning and much more impressive than it looks on the website - unfortunately there would have been a long wait for it so I went with the blue. But I would really recommend trying to see one if you haven't already. The Rock 'n' Roll blue is very dark and rather dull-looking and I personally think it's not a sufficiently 'special' colour for such a stylish car... but of course it's a very personal thing!

The only other point I would make about the white is that there are loads of them about. I used to have a cream Mini and that was the same; you do get a bit fed up with every second car being like yours.

not to be funny, but why are people offering opinions? We're not going to be owning it and our requirements will be different to the op's.

Really, the op needs to see for themselves or look at photos of different cars

I actually have Joseph 500 to thanks for my colour choice, as it was his pictures posted that drew my attention to what I consider a classic 500 colour.

I now have got a TwinAir in R&R Blue with red leather / ivory ambiance, and chrome. And I have to say I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I get a lot of looks zipping around in it because it's not the usual 500 (before I had one of the very first BNW 08 reg, but wouldn't have another BNW as where I am in this particular part of London, every 'Yummy Mummy' seems to drive that colour combo). It's just great to be different.

I think for this colour to have the 'wow' factor you need to 'ping' it up with a bright interior trim (hence the red), and chrome.

The only drawback I can see is the fear of getting it scratched (which is not such a visible issue on the lighter colours obv). And it takes an extra whizz of the chamois when washed just to get rid of the watermarks.

Whatever you choose - enjoy!

Have you already ordered this, or are you still looking for the best deal? I can pm you info on a cracking one (any 500, any dealer of your choice), but no point if you've got it sorted.

If you have already ordered, enjoy the car! I really like the Volare blue btw - really suits the car & its character.

Regards, Gavin. (y)
