Technical Broken Airbox

My engine is sounding weird with a lot of rumbling, opened the bonnet looks like the Airbox is broken as the plastic parts holding the box in place next to the screws are completely torn off probably from wear. Performance of the engine and fuel economy are both normal, I guess I'll change it at some point, not urgent, but I like my engine running cleanly = ) Anyone else had this issue? looks to be purely a wear and tear thing from what I see.

Holding bolts probably loosened over time allowing box to vibrate about! that along with the heat in your location over time caused fractures and breakage not known as a common problem! easy to buy a used replacement box on e-bay and the like fit with new mounting rubbers and your good to go!

Yes sounds about right! Most of my ‘issues’ are related to plastic wearing out, but it’s almost always a low cost quick fix so not the end of the world

Fiats plastics quality usually makes a chocolate box look sturdy!

The securing bolts and rubber spacers are not available as a separate part.
Low cost fix replace rubber with a pair of washers and new spacer. Penny washers and glue or epoxy might sort box holes.

Oh dear it’s getting so noisy now at speed that my ears are hurting so I had to do something about it ! Went to fiat they want 415 euros for a brand new airbox so I’ll just do that. I had a good look at the exhaust in case it was that but other than some rust I can’t see anything terribly wrong with it

To positively confirm its the air box before spending lots, remove it completely, now drive the car on a short run, is the noise present in any way or totally gone?

You have a point but the airbox is completely broken so I’d have to fix it anyway I went to several mechanics (all Fiat specialists ) for different opinions they all said the same thing.

I can drive the car fine it’s just the noise that’s annoying I’m driving the car normally and my ears ring after a while!

I bought the fiat plastic box anyway I didn’t want to drive around too much with a broken air box
