I was wondering if i can swap calipers with those off another fiat if i make a bracket? I already have a servo off a punto (also got the 6spd tranny but i don´t think it fits[:(!])Will the master cylinder work with other calipers or should i use the servo and mc off the punto? Any help apreciated.

Don't know if the servo from another car will fit your original cylinder...maybe a Panda servo wouldn't make problems;)!Then I'd buy new discs, possibly grooved with a set of (good) pads...to finish don't forget the red paint on drums/calipers[8D]

<--Can my face look like this if I meet a Danish and/or a Swedish supporter!?

AFAIK there are bigger calipers, bigger disks, and a servo on the Panda "selector" CVT versions.

ISTR those parts are (relatively) expensive.

The guys are right. The selecta models had larger calipers and discs. Great stopping power. But the calipers are around £75 for each. The discs are around two and a half times the standard disc cost. You rarely find them in scrappies. Trust me, I tried to find a decent pair, and couldn't find any. I have decided to get rid of the car because of this and some other problems.
But fret not, I have purchased a J reg Panda Dance so at least the Marque lives on. What kind of world could I live in where I didn't have a wee Panda to make me smile?

A little addiction to what I've already adviced:decent pipes for the brakes are a must if you want to improve their efficiency! Here they're called "aeronautical" because are used in this field:they've a double steel mesh which avoid the dilatation under high pressure;).Of course you'll need to bleed the whole circuit, which I'd fill with a Dot4 stuff.

I actually intended to change the entire hub assembly but noticed it was a lot of work so i´m just gonna stick bigger disks and calipers.

Anyone know about the 6spd?

No.

But how does it compare with the C514 'box from the later Pandas? Is it a variant?
Cables and rods for the gearchange, and some butchery to the floor covered up with a bit of plastic.
Suspect the driveshafts maybe different lengths too.

It's possible the engine is mounted fractionally further towards the centre of the car: there seems more room down there than I remember from the CL cambelt change.

Perhaps I should send some VINs to Paul to look at the parts CD.

For info on a conversion to Delta integrale discs and calipers see:

Code:
 http://www.y10turbo.co.uk/shop.asp

But the discs are so large that 15" wheels are required ie: same as on an integrale.

In a similar vein, HF turbo discs and calipers could be installed with some modifications - they require 14" wheels.

If you require serious breaking - it costs.

A cheaper alternative may be to source the braking parts for a Y10 Turbo or GTi.e.

Martin

Fix It Again Tony!
Would swap for X19, Montecarlo Spider or GT.i.e in average/poor condition! Scottish based would be nice.

sorry to drag up an old thread, but...

smokeme: any updates? first upgrade i want to do is brakes and then wheels and i'm trying to make a list of my options. thanks a lot.

enzo: do you know how much integrale disks run for at junkies? i've been to about 5 junkies around here and i haven't seen any integrales... how about deltas?

i've read through several threads and i haven't read about anyone changing out the drums for disks. i imagine that would improve breaking but what kind of work would be involved?

appreciate all your help!
cheers,
serge

Last question first, no replacing the rears with disks will not improve braking, but will look nicer. I replaced my master cylinder with the servo and cylinder from the punto(it is not a bolt on and does create a few problems, mostly clearance), pedal feel is a lot better as well as stopping power(wheels do lock up really fast at about half pedal). My rear hubs are off a punto turbo so it does have disks,i had problems getting the calipers on the back to work right, they would lock up before the front and i had to replace the valve that controls the ratio with the one off the punto turbo. My fronts are still on the drawing board but will probably be the punto stuff i already have.
