General Bodywork dimensions

Does anybody have any drawings or diagrams that show the main dimensions of the body shell or does anything like that exist?I have a pal who is trying to rebuild a real basket case of a 500F and needs a few reference measurements particularly for the front end before he starts welding in the new panels

I do Dave, its in my workshop manual. It shows dimensions for suspension mounting points etc. I’m in Italy at the moment but can get it to you next week if you remind me.

As the owner of another basket case Fiat 500, I suggest that he takes inspiration from Sean Franko500 as I plan to do. You first need a good 500 with suspension stripped so that you can weld together a rigid frame that bolts to all the major mounting points. Sean has also usefully fitted some wheels to his.

Then you can remove the jig from the good 500 and fit it to the wobbly one. So you can see that Murf is going to accidentally get a thorough suspension overhaul at some point.

Bigvtwin996 might be able to direct you to a chassis diagram with measurement because I know there is one for the "N".

If it's the bonnet area giving problems I would use temporary ("Cleco") rivets on the wings/front panel etc and check the alignment of the bonnet before welding.

That just reminded me I have a book that is full of drawings from the Fiat drawing office archive. A long story but through My wife’s uni friend marrying someone from Torino I am connected with a retired employee who helped put the book together. ( He took me on a tour of the Fiat Factory in 2009)

It is all in Italian but I will see if there are any more detailed pics

The scans in the book have been reduced in size so dimensions are not legible. It does show how the panels are layered over each other.

Thank you for posting the pictures. Looks like a very interesting publication you have there. The side elevation of the front section in the first picture looks to be most promising. Unfortunately it just comes up as a blurr on my iPad.

Yes, even in the book the writing is blurry. Which areas in particular need measurements? My car is disassembled at the moment so I may be able to take some over the weekend.
