Hey everyone, just been pulled over and spot fined £30 quid for my blue sidelights!!! Apparently they are illegal however what i said to the pig...."mr pig i bought them on many occasions and told they are street legal" and " when i was pulled over before (carpark spotcheck lmao:p ) your colleagues said nothing even after walking round the car whilst my lights where on !!!! ggggrrrr are they illegal? should i challenge them? (not really worth it for £30 quid)

cheeers

btw if your a rebel pig handing out advice on here then fair play lol you know who you are(y)

yes like dave said, they are illegal if they are blue, but you can put the ice white ones in.,., ive had blue leds in my civic but cops never said anything about them.,., usually if you give any attitude then they'll be very pickey(n) ., i usually get them talking about the cop car, Are they any good? what do ya drive yourself? and then there usually alright.,.,(y)

Yup, definitely illegal - you're not allowed blue lights on your car as you could be interpreted as pretending to be a police officer ;) Other colours you'll usually get away with (except red, obviously) - I have pink ones but only use them for shows and cruises and swap back to white as soon as I get home. Everyone knows blue lights are chavvy anyway (ice-blue OK (y))

I got full sets of standard bulbs in the boot, so i would just change them there and then and just say i didn't know they were illegal, and hand them over to them. Would rather get rid of £3 than £30

You ignorant boy. I hate people with your attitude towards the police there just doing there job as Blue lights ARE illegal and I bet if they spent a bit of time they would find a lot more illegal thing's on your car.

Personally I hate blue lights they always seem to be in these big BMW SUV type vehicles that ALWAYS Dazzle me from 6miles away on the opposite side of the motorway!.

I agree...the police are doing their job...and to be totally honest....you wouldn't have the problem of being pulled over if your car wasn't illegal now would you?

not sure what else has been posted only read the first few posts, but i work for halfords, there r a few types of bulbs, normal sidelights=legal, laser blue=legal, ultra blue=illegal (well for off road and show use only), then there r blue LED sidelights (which r VERY blue and VERY illegal!)! hhope this clears this up! altho im not sure wot r the consequences of using sme of these ilegal bulbs!

Will aggree that i sounded a lil ignorant but i was mad so sorry to offend, btw car is totally legal and the lights are a hash on my part but surely cops should be working on sorting muppets that dont use roundabouts correctly and thus cause major probs instead o small petty things, yes it was an offence but i would have been more considerate and respected him more if he would have informed me of the law and taught me whats what with lights instead of saying illegal 30 quid plz.... police should really be educating people??? i drive quite alot for work purposes and the amount of f--k ups seen on the roads every day is just criminal.... YES everyone makes balls-ups on the road but ive got to say all these accidents are just down to bad driving...not all speed and not my lights lmao  cheerrs for the comments and like i say sorry to offend but ya know im officially skint as it is lol(y)

At the end of the day if the stats are down their going to enforce what ever is easy to enforce to get there statistics up unfortunatly you were on the receiveing end :p. And yes there are a lot of very stupid / ignorant drivers out there that ignore the highway code and do what they want. Unfortunatly it is very difficult to police it especially with all these cut-backs and highway patrols replaced for speed cameras.

the ppl selling them pretty much get away with it.

if you read the highway code and the laws regarding cars and mot's etc you'll find any flashing or constant blue/ blue tint'd lights that could be confused with any emergancy service are illegal, also I think green ones are illegal too, but less empahiss on them.

you should really know better. £30 might make you learn a bit quicker.

and some good humour from dave there. impersonating an officer is just as bad as impersonating a emergancy vehicle.

Yup i agree the blue one's just look so daft, i saw a Punto mk1 arond Ayr the other day with totally blue ones, and i'd pull him if i were a copper, there are ice white/blueish ones, and they're ok and look fine, but there is no need for blue ones.
