anyone know why my seemingly good battery on my 2004 2.2 diesel ulysse drains overnight and then only just starts car, drops from a good 12.6 volt to 11.5 volt
thanks for reply, battery is not by any means new, say 4 to 5 years, but with it of the car it stays at 12.5 volts. alternater seems to be charging fine at 14 volts

Ah right, like you say if it keeps charge off the car then its not likly to be the battery at fault. I take it you haven't fitted a new CD player etc recently?
Voltage maybe okay but it's the cranking amps that is important (especially in winter). Most garages & tyre stores should have a tester and will test it for free.
no not changed the radio or cd, but borrowed a cheap load tester on battery and it is stating 400 amps under load, i think this is right, seems to be a lot of drains on these cars before starting due to all interior lights and whatever else when unlocking and entering, and also when turning engine off, as can hear two different fan type noises for two or three minuets after engine stops
The noise is the auxillary heater which carries on for a minute or two. Can't say I've ever had any battery troubles, in fact only had one replacement since new (2003)!
Also the economy mode usually kicks in to cut power to most accessories.
hi there all, fitted a brand new battery just before Christmas and all seems to be good now, although it's not been proper cold yet noticed a difference tHough already, just confusing when old battery shows a good voltage reading, many thanks
