Hi all,

thinking about the baby arriving next year and went on to try child seats (group +0) and it is very tight to fit it in the back. Anyone had the baby seat installed in front seat of 500? (with airbag switched off obviously)... Is it legal? I remember reading that is not advisable for forward facing child seats, but could not remember what it said about rear facing baby seats... Help appriciated!

It's legal but NCAP advise against having children in the front

Once the little 'un is a bit older & you leave the seat in the car then getting them in & out of the back & into the seat is easy. Easier than some 4 door cars in fact as you can put them in from the front of the seat, rather than lift them over the edge from the side.

But, I imagine that getting a new baby in & out of the back in a seat / carrier would be a bit of a pain (& you really do want to be sure you can do it with the baby in the seat when they are newborn).

I know that in my car with the leather seats that all car seats dont sit well on the front seat due to the sportier style of seat. I wanted to put little man in the front now he's in a booster but I just wasn't happy with the fit on the seat (gap of about 0.5 to 1 inch under the middle of the booster seat). I'd say back is the best way to go but I know it is hard to get them in and out (however I hardly ever took him out in the car seat because he was too heavy to carry it with him in!). HTH.
