If its the same spec and size its got to be very similar inside. If the price and warranty are good then buy it.

This is what Halfords charge about £100 for.

By spec, I meant AH and cold cranking amps. that could be Bosch, Varta or any other brand.

Mine has the spec as above and I've been well glad of its cold start performance this last month or so. Never the slightest hesitation even when it was so cold the alarm packed up.
I could have saved a few quid on a lower spec, but well glad I didnt.

Oops - Now watch something go t*ts-up.

Bosch silver and the Varta are 42AH with 390ish CCA (where as current is 40AH - Yes its a cheapie - was with the car when i brought it)

It will flatten battery in 5 to 10 mins if i leave lights on :)
After a recharge tho its a little better but still weak :(

Would to have in the past by now got a Diesel Battery Tray and a Similar battery for the diesel - as there generally more heavy duty :)

Will probs go Varta as there a few quid cheaper and it seems to be good :)

The Bosch Silver S5002 (HSB012 from Hallfords) threw my HGT over like a summer's day when it was -15. 54AH (Amp Hours) with 530 amps cranking power.

Its quite a serious chunk better than 42/390 for the same physical size so it wont struggle in the cold (when all batteries slow down). That Varta may be cheap but its not got much punch. Get a better spec of get the Bosch.

the HGT has a different battery tho, it has a more rectangular shaped one

Where as the small Petrols (1.2 8v) they have a stupid square battery

the Bosch is 42ah/390CCA
Same as the Varta Blue :) (they almost look identical lol - rebadges?)

i put a blue 544 402 044 Battery from http://performancebatteries.co.uk/find_battery/cars#battery_info when my year old battery kept putting pas light on, no problems since, you will need to chuck away the plastic battey box to fit in in a 1.2 8v or 1.2 16v with a manual box, fits in a speedgear or hgt box though

Without the plastic Surrounding tho - how on earth do you secure the battery? which is Not safe or Legal?
I know you can swap the trays over i think - but my tray is certainly never coming out - its practically welded in with rust with the bolts

the plastic box don't hold it in, the metal strap does, and on some a bit of 2x1 wood painted black under the strap

True - the side strap just snaps onto the side :)

To Play it easy tho - since i've tried and know my tray isn't coming out

Going to go with this one :)
Item number: 230557372193

As its same Spec and everything as the Bosch Silver s4 :)
Item number: 260727042266

Might See if the Bosch Seller does it cheaper via his shop - as its nearby ISH to me :)
