Thanks Bill,
That pretty much reflects my own opinion.
When it was up for sale a month ago, I looked immediately into replacement bonnets (in any colour), and found one inexpensively on eBay also. (£20)
I imagined a scenario, where I turned up to buy the car, with the replacement bonnet under my arm!
In the earlier ad, it was possible to see in the boot, and the vehicle appears to have been Imola blue (as the interior was unpainted).
The engine was also shown, and was a TOTALLY standard 1108, some what bizarrely.
The MOT history indeed reveals it to be actually a very good example, and at 66k, it's quite an opportunity.
But unfortunately- in my mind- those looks, don't usually come hand in hand with sympathetic ownership. It wouldn't take much to imagine the poor thing being red-lined from every traffic light start, back in the day.
Perhaps the engine is a replacement from the original that went pop.
The original ad did say the Rev counter didn't work.
I think if the seller was somewhat more forthcoming with what history tha car has, I'd feel better about it as a starter-project.
Hangon! Ive got the original listing in my watch-list; hopefully it'll copy over and still be visible to you.
