Technical Airbag light does not come on

A mates 2002 Punt has failed the test because the airbag light does not illuminate at all. It is completely dead and I doubt if the bulb / LED is the cause. I'll be looking at it tomorrow briefly, but is there a known or common cause for this?

Light failure in the dash is rare due to failure

Tampering more likely

Get a code reader plugged in - see if
A - it connects = Systems there
B - Its registering faults
C - Do the light actuatation test

However if its not doing it on ignition - C isn't going to help

I would have thought the most likely cause would be someone pulling the fuse on the airbag system to cover up the light being on.

Or unplugging the airbag ecu for the same reasons

iwouid go with what Andy has said,
he knows what hes talking about on the subject of airbags,

so check for missing fuse,
and check for a disconected airbag ecu,
