I have also confirmed the yellow lead is required for airbags when helping other members.
From memory I thought mine required the yellow too. (Its 2019) Some of the conflicitng MES instructions clearly don't help much. I was trying to connect to ABS recently and never managed it! I shall try all the adapters and see which actually works when I next use it.

OK, thanks - seems Gendan (uk agent that I bough the yellow lead and plug in bluetooth unit from) have it wrong on their info then :)

(I only have a yellow lead... and haven't needed to check any airbag faults yet)

Edit: just opened the app and selected airbags -- it does indeed say 'connect yellow adaptor lead', so stand corrected :)

You cant odds the confusing info or may be its changed at some point.!

I think I may have got to the bottom of my airbag fault and code BO111.

Early this year a work colleague hit the back nearside panel of the door with a work pump truck. Not sure how hard or fast. But this was the damage if you see picture.

Think it could have damaged the sensor in the door making my airbag fault now on...

The ‘airbag’ light more correctly is warning of a fault in the SRS (supplemental restraint system) systems. Things other than the airbag can cause it to come on, including a fault in the pyrotechnic seat belt tensioner (which pulls the belt tighter in the event of an accident), and also a faulty seat belt buckle switch. The tensioner is down at the side of the seat, nearest the door and lies alongside the seat mounting rail. If anything got damaged there, or if something is affecting it (such as rubbish pressing against it) this can lead to an airbag warning. Something as simple as a sweet wrapper in the belt buckle can also throw up errors.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record - a scan with MES will tell you where the issue is.

I would very much doubt that small impact has had any effect.

The explosive unit that tensions the belt is under the trim inside the side of the floor between the front and back seats (ie inside the rear door edge) - my finger is pointing at the wire securing the bottom end of the seatbelt. In the event if a front-end crash of sufficient force (enough to write the car off!), the airbags will deploy and this unit will pull the belt tight to hold you in your seat.

Quick question: do you keep stuff under the seat, or has the seat got caught in something while being moved forward or backwards? It could simply be a damaged wire under there - they’re not so well protected.
All of this is good stuff but @Adam1984 did you replace the battery? Or at least give the current one a decent charge (preferably with a so-called Smart charger)? As has been mentioned low battery volts really messes with "modern" vehicle electronics (and not just Fiat) my Volvo is booked to have an airbag light cancelled for a second time in 12 months due to a spike from a low battery (this is a latched error which, like Fiat requires, the proprietary manufacturer's software - VIDA in this case).

I had a brand new battery put in yesterday, but I just put it straight in from the shop where I got it from. I don't have a battery charger, but surely will it need charging if it is brand new?

If it’s new then it will be charged.
But, the airbag fault will need to be cleared using MES or a Fiat workshop. Its unlikely to go away by itself.
