Hi, I am a new to the forum so apologies if this has been asked before, I have bought a punto evo active 1.2 8v which is cat d repaired, I have noticed that the connector block under the passenger seat is disconnected , could this be deliberate after airbags have been triggered and what is the consequenses of reconnecting the plug and socket, could this trigger the airbag again or make the car not startable. Thanks in advance for any help

Never mess with any airbag connectors whilst the battery is connected, disconnect car battery first for at least 15/20 mins if you decide to plug it in.

Is the air bag warning light on constantly ? Does the air bag warning lamp work when first starting the car? If the air bags are not connected, the light should be on unless a lower spec ecu has been fit with out side air bags in the seat as standard.

Hello,

at least with Punto Evo 2011, it is possible to

- turn the ignition on
- turn the passenger airbag off (in the menu)
- turn the ignition off
- wait 5 min
- disconnect the airbag connector under the seat
- remove the passenger seat
- turn the ignition on
- drive around with the passenger airbag failure light on, without the passenger seat
- turn ignition off
- wait 5 min
- reinstall the passenger seat and reconnect the airbag connector
- turn ignition on
- activate passenger airbag in the menu
- drive around with the passenger airbag active and the passenger airbag warning light now extinct

if you want to be extra careful, you can also disconnect the battery when removing / reinstalling the passenger seat.
