Hello

hope someone can help!

I have a 55reg 1.2 8v fiat punto sport and yesterday mid drive it just stopped!!!

engine starts but will only crawl in any gear!! will reverse in reverse and revs but will not drive at drivable speed!

has anyone else had this problem?
is it fixable?
expensive?

sorry very worried only had it 2months! :(

what happens when you try and move it, in say 1st gear?

do the revs climb but the car doesn't move, or do the revs stay low and the engine struggles?

what does it do differently in reverse, does it work fine in reverse?

what happened when it stopped, how fast were you going, did it stall, did the revs rise, did it lock any wheels etc

sounds like something is broken/stuck

yeah the revs climb and when in 1st it crawls forward at snails pace and if i put it in reverse it does the same backwards. engine sounds fine. i just stopped at a traffic light it was about 15mins after i had come off motorway but had been driving around after that fine..
didnt stall!

just v confused.

oh thanks yeah i think that too! but am worried it might b gearbox!
it smelt like burnt out clutch after i was reving it and crawling it forward!
hmmmm n e idea how much a clutch is?

Yeah, do need to know how clutch feels first! A mk2 punto costs around £200. not sure on MK1 but I imagine similiar.

clutch kit from shop4parts is £50. fitting will cost more though as the gearbox has to come off. find a local clutch specialist. bear in mind the parts cost £50 - ask a few a places till you're happy with the cost.

gearbox will be fine.

where was it biting before it went?

quite low!!

but its my first car and i jst started driving so i didnt think n e thing of it! :bang:
