Will flashing a 16f ECU with a 6f map delete the immobiliser function? Or would it require swapping the CPU chip?

Are the ECUs operationally the same or will something stop that from working.

I'm asking purely because the 16f is a little more compact than the 6f so easier to relocate, and I've read that turning immo off with a 16f can cause a non start occasionally.

I understand that the coil outputs are different from 6f to 16f (1+4 swapped with 2+3) so you would need to rearrange ht leads but pretty much all the other pins in the ECU plug are wired the same.

If the 16f has the single white relay would I need to rewire for separate relays? Or would it just work.

Hello, 6F ecu has the same architecture a part on immo and rom memory.
In 6F the rom is inside of mcu (it’s impossible to be reflashed), otherwise in 16F is in an external 27C512 eprom.
If you take a 16F and remove immo you won’t have any problems in pinout or failed starts
