The rubber casing surrounding the boot switch fell out yesterday. I guess the rubber has perished. Its a 500X 4x4 owned from new. Otherwise, been OK. The wires are still intact and the switch still works.
I've called the dealer for advice, but I am loathed to pay their price for a whole new rear lock fitting, which is what they have said is needed - £350 plus VAT plus fitting so north of £500 ... for a rubber grommet !
I am also not very mechanically minded, but surely there is a way of fixing this for less?
Should I simply inject silicone around the switch to hold it in place? Using glue won't work, as the aperture is slightly larger than the switch.
Any advice from anyone gratefully received.
Thanks Rob
