I am helping a 500L owner who is in my home town, only the third local owner I have known of apart from me. He has hardly been able to drive his car in three years due to running problems, three different people working on it resulting in a total non runner for the last year. Managed to restore a big smile to his face yesterday when he could drive the car. Went back for some fine tuning today and lots of electrics do not work including dash lights in the speedo. I have forgotten how to remove the 500L speedo 😳 help.

If I remember correctly David (and it sometime since I took mine out to fit the "Abarth" dash), it clips in at the bottom of the instrument cluster module.

I have been back to help this guy with the 500L and we cannot get the speedo out from the dash. We disconnected the cable then tried to lift the bottom out, also levering with screwdrivers but it only comes so far. Are we missing something? There is a possibility that the speedo and the wire connector blocks have been glued with something like silicon sealant. The outer front casing is now cracked so a big frustration and I am getting the feeling that the only way this is going to come out is in bits. Anybody got a spare 500L Speedo, does not have to work?

Hi Dave---when I fitted the "Abarth" style Instrument cluster to my 500L, I had no further need for the car's original ('L' style, big) Instrument cluster as in order to fit the "Abarth" style cluster into a 'L', one has to take a BIG breath and remove a BIG chunkof the plinth that the 'L's instrument cluster sits on, so precluding fitting the original cluster back onto the dash. I gave the cluster to a colleague of mine who has a LHD 500L, but wanted a MPH (as against a KPH) speed in his car. I have e-mailed him to see if he did the swap, and if he did, what did he do with the old (KPH) Instrument cluster. I promise nothing, but it MIGHT be available--I will keep you advised whatever is the outcome of my e-mail.

David---I have got an answer back from my colleague-----we have a 500L instrument cluster for you. It is a KPH cluster, in good condition. Please contact me direct regarding all the details
