Trying to get this car ready to sell on and want to take some photos with the roof down - its only going 3/4 back (spoiler position??). other than that does exactly what it should...so i start trying to reset but it wont - then i notice a boot open warning on the centre of the speedo
The boot is not open and the boot locks and unlocks from the remote key perfectly well.

I have previously replaced the hatch wiring with silicon (only 7 wires on a 500c.

SO my assumption is that both of these are linked and that they probably relate to having battery issues previously - which was since replaced.

Likely causes please? is this going to be a MES jobby or an unplug battery jobby.

Thought id post this up before dinner!

Roof's probably OK but if the control module thinks the boot's open it won't allow the top to open fully. Does pressing the manual release pop the boot? Is the boot light on when it's shut? Disconnecting the battery for a half hour might help.

No Manual release doesn't work - which now makes me suspect handle...This car has had all the common fiat faults!
I dont remember seeing the red door open indicator (boot light) - Correction the boot light is ON.
apparently the pins for the boot handle come out of place....going to have to take the rear handle off!

Am i right that if the boot is opening from the key fob that there should be power and therefor its more likely to be the 'handle' rather than the switch - ie mechanical rather than electronic?

My handle was replaced under warranty when it failed in the second year and I don't recall what other symptoms were evident. As I understand it power must be available at the solenoid for both the remote and button to release it.
