So while I was waiting at the dealer yesterday “almost 3hours” I was looking at all the 500s they had in..... I love the look of the tail lights with the insert and it got me thinking [emoji848] I’ve been looking on fleabay found a lot for sale BUT I took one of mine off to investigate the back and I’m pretty sure there’s an extra pin in the plug connector on mine whereas the new have 4 pins I believe ...also does this new style have a fog light incorporated into it or has it been moved to the bumper? Anyone know or changed theirs? IMG_1577.JPGIMG_1578.JPG

yes i have just replaced those ugly series4 rear lights by a set of those beautifull series3 light ;)
Both will fit mechanically.
You just need an adapter for the different plugs.
And doing it the other way round you will have to think about the fog and the reversing light
Oh and there are simple bulbs in both

I have to say I prefer the look of the older lights, where the division between sections of the light follow the shut line of the tailgate. It looks like they were designed for the car rather than an afterthought. I have also noticed when following the newer lights with coloured inserts that they are not very visible, particularly the indicators in daylight.

And also note the newer cars "projector " headlights are said to be a backwards step and are poor in comparison to the older standard ones?

Yes they do fit wiring is minor .. you need a dremmel a small piece of aluminium and a bulb holder from ebay... you can but either an individual plug or a kit to connect the lamps I bought the kit and crimping pliers .. oh and a bit of wire and a soldering iron... mine are plug and play and can revert at any time they also include the reverse and fog lamps each one cost about £70 including some salvage original fiat series 4 rear lamps from a rockstar

Hi mate, could you help me build some of these?

I just did a retrofit myself, very easy. Easiest thing to do is buy a used facelift set on eBay that still have their 4 pin connectors and loom. Then just get a two wire car bulb holder and connect its ground wire to the existing loom's ground and the other one to the reserve wire.

You will need to drill a hole into the bulb holder. I then used a hot glue gun to seal the hole once the reverse light had been feed through.

The harder part is getting the wires connected. I used crimps and shrink tubing but I might redo them with proper soldering if I can be bothered.

Painting also easy.

Not the case. I bought OEM replacement projectors on eBay to replace the nasty basic ones that came with the car.

Not only do they visually lift the car they perform extremely well when using night breaker bulbs. So well that when I tried them one dark evening I found myself not needing to use high beam at all.
