Ok..

Lets move on :)

You have opted for a replacement engine.

Get the belts changed while its accessible
Clutch pack too.. this can be inspected ;)

Peripherals..

Water pump. Radiator..and thermostat

Check that no 'sealing aid' has compromised these.

TBH. All 3 will be simple to swap for new when the engine is out.

Yes its another £200.. but you will know it is going to last.

Easy for you to say haha but thank you for the added info I shall get this done! I still want answers to why I had no idea that my engine was overheating could a faulty thermostat be why no indication on dash?

It is not explicit that an engine has to overheat to blow the head gasket, this is just the common cause on this particular engine, and while there are not as far as I am aware any specific weak points on the 1.2 head gasket, that doesn’t means you haven’t just been unlucky.

However you’ve not had the car long, it’s quite possibly the gasket had already gone and it had previously over heated before you got it. Looking back I found a post about a blown radiator which is unusual In cars these days so that could have been a symptom of the head gasket failure.

You may never know the actual cause or when it originally happened, my thought is it was probably botched before you bought it and having paid over £7k and only having it 3 months I would be suing the hell out of the dealer. (Something you can still do)

I had a Grande Punto that gurgled and trickled all the time I had it, no head gasket problems just a bad airlock to the heater, causing it to get colder and colder in the cabin till I eventually fixed it, and after that it was perfect for the remainder of the time I owned it.
